DAINE AND I ENTERED THE CAFETERIA and immediately looked for a seat. We saw Mona and Kelly on the left corner waving their hands as if trying to get our attention — telling us to sit with them.

"There's Mona and Kels," Daine uttered. "Doon na lang tayo umupo."

I nodded in agreement and let her pull me. The cafeteria was a bit crowded today. Almost all tables were taken already.

"Hi, Dray!"

I nodded and smiled at the girl who greeted me. Her cheeks suddenly turned red at my response. When we finally sat down together with Mona and Kelly, they started with their chit chats right away. Ako naman ay nag-umpisa nang kumain.

"Hindi ko yata nakita si Chin ngayon," nakangising saad ni Mona.

"Baka natakot na masabunutan ulit. Well, she should." Kelly laughed.

I stayed silent on my seat. I didn't want to associate myself again to any of the issues here. I couldn't afford to be suspended again.

"Hi, Dray! Welcome back!"

Nag-angat ako ng tingin sa dalawang babaeng huminto sa lamesa namin. The other one looked embarrassed as she wasn't making any eye contact with anyone of us on the table. The one who greeted me seemed confident with her big smile. I smiled, too.

"Hey," I greeted back even though I didn't know them.

"I practiced my baking skills yesterday. I made some brownies for you. Hope you like it!"

Iniabot niya sa akin ang isang box ng brownies.

"Oh. That's for me?" paninuguro ko pa.

"Yes, only for you!"

I heard Daine's suppressed laughter beside me. I smiled shyly at the girl and took the the box from her hand a bit hesitantly.

"Thank you. I appreciate it," I said.

Her smile grew bigger. "You're welcome! I'm glad to see you here again."

Ngumiti lang muli ako. Nang makaalis sila ay napuno ng tawanan nila Daine ang lamesa namin. I arched my brow at them.

"Your admirers never even got lessen each passing day," Daine commented. "Teach us your ways, Master."

Nagtawanan ulit sila. I just shook my head and continued eating. I never asked to be a bit popular in this school. I was silently studying and doing my things as a normal student. I didn't even have a lot of friends. I only had Daine then I met Zach, Jace, and Spencer. Hindi ko talaga alam kung bakit kilala na ako ng halos lahat dito.

I fished my phone from my pocket when I was almost done eating. Daine was just starting to eat. Inuna pa kasi ang pakikipagdaldalan. Kaya gusto kong kami lang ang nasa table, e. Hindi siya makakadaldal dahil alam niyang hindi ako pala-kuwento habang kumakain.

Uminom ako mula sa bote ng tubig ko. Sa gilid ng mga mata ko ay nakita ko ang paglabas ni Daine ng kaniyang cellphone mula sa bag niya.

I got finally done with eating. I looked at Daine's plate to see if she was already halfway eating. I frowned when I saw her on her phone.

"Daine, eat. Bagal mong kumain. Mamaya ma-late na naman tayo sa next subject," puna ko.
