Chap 2- New neighbours

The Army Public School in Bhopal was located about 3-4km from where Suman stayed. In the cold foggy hours of the morning, she stood quietly waiting for her school bus to arrive. Usually her cousin Kanchan accompanied her but that day she had caught a terrible cold and was not attending school.

Suman looked up at the cloud covered sky and said," Wow! So beautiful!"

As she stood there gazing at the morning sky, the Malhotras' cars passed by her and stopped at the house right opposite to hers.

"Papa told me that Devraj uncle and his family are moving into the second floor," she said," I guess that they have arrived."

And she was absolutely right. Mr Devraj Malhotra, his wife Kavita, his brother Rajinder and his wife Ragini along with their daughter Avni got down from their respective cars.

"Kavita ji," Devraj said to his wife," Will you please ask that son of yours to wake up now. We have arrived at our destination."

Shravan had fallen asleep during the journey. Kavita knocked at the closed glass window of the car which instantly woke him up.

"Come out of the car Shravan," Kavita said," we have arrived!"

It took a moment for Shravan to come back to his senses. He looked all around him and finally got down from the car.

"Why did he have to wear that cotton t-shirt in such cold weather," Suman thought," he might fall ill. How stupid!"

Shravan was looking all around him exploring his surroundings.

"So Mr. Shravan," Devraj said to him,"this colony is inhabited by the members of army families. So you better not create any mischief here. Is that clear?"

"Yes papa," he replied," can we please go inside now? It too cold outside."

The entire Malhotra family walked into the house while a few male servants carried their luggage.

Suman put on her gloves and said,"why is the school bus taking so long today? Its already five minutes past seven. I hate being late."
