My eyes slowly opened and few seconds later, I reached out for my phone, and before one could say Jack Robinson, I was already on jamb website, searched up my name and it was there, that I had been granted a provisional admission to study English Language in the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, I grinned.
I got to know about the admission the previous day, I'm only checking it again to be sure my name hasn't vanished overnight because village people are real right. My mom has danced round our house when I broke the good news to her (typical Nigerian mom). We called daddy on phone to tell him about my admission and after that my mom called like a million people to tell about my admission, most of them I do not even know.
I checked the time and saw that I have woken up an hour earlier than my normal waking time.
"The joy of a soon to be undergraduate, I guess" I muttered and smiled. I dropped my phone, adjusted few times on the bed and I soon drifted to sleep.

"Osubarere o
Osubarere o
Oba ta o ri, ta n ri ise owo re ..."
I woke up to the chorus coming from the living room. I stood up from my bed lazily, removed my night stocks and headed to the living room to join my family in morning devotion. I have the habit of over sleeping, I wake up mostly to the sound of morning devotion songs on most morning and since my mom noticed this, she usually come close to my room side to sing.
I knelt down in my normal position, sang joyfully and went through the morning devotion routine with glee.
"Ize, congratulations once again on your admission" my mom said to me joyfully after we've said our good mornings as she draw me into a warm hug.
"Thank you mama" I responded warmly, leaning into her.
It was a beautiful morning. Mom was getting ready to go to work, my mom owns a provision store down town. My two younger siblings; Onono and Ben were also getting ready for school, the former is in senior secondary school while the latter is in junior secondary school. My elder brother Sydney is away in the university up north. Dad works in the city(Abuja).
