She is in solitude
Not physically
but mentally,
Her body is there with the crowd,
laughing so pure no
one can tell how empty she really is.
She hears sounds
and feels the light of the room
but cannot see anything.

The entire club beamed with red and blue flashing lights rotating from the ceiling, it was a Friday night in November and the nightclub was full of people dancing and drinking while the DJ's music boomed in the background. It was the night of my 18th birthday and I was out to celebrate.
"Come on let's dance" Stella yelled into my ear giving me a smile, I laughed while following her onto the already packed dancefloor. Stella has already a few drinks in her system. I know this as her usually shy self tries to talk to every person she passes while singing along to whatever remix the DJ plays.
Although nightclubs and drinking are not usually how I would prefer to spend my free time, Stella was having such a good time and I would hate to interrupt and complain. So, I just follow along.
After dancing along to a couple of songs I grow tired and make my way towards the bar to order a drink, only taking a sip occasionally, as it becomes too bitter to finish. The lights flash in my eyes and the overly loud music deafens my ears. I begin to feel extremely self-conscious standing on my own in a low cut short mini dress. I sign as I try to scan the room to find Stella until I feel a hand on my back. I turn around quick almost like a deer in headlights.
