Prologue

"Grandmother," I sat beside her grave, and began to speak to her as if she were right here with me, "Pastor Samuel said you took care of that demon for nineteen years." I paused, and wiped away the tears that we're falling down my cheeks, "Grandmother, how did you do it? When he looked at me, those few seconds that I stared into his eyes, oh grandmother, it was awful." I began to play with a piece of grass that was on my skirt, "How could I possibly do such a drudgery when I feel so frail and vile just thinking about it?" I waited for her it answer, as if she really could.

Once again, I wiped more tears that we're crowding in my eyes, "Is that man really a demon? Is he really from Hell? Pastor Samuel said because his father and mother did such horrible deeds to other human beings, that he must be... but... why dies he look so much like a normal man? Grandmother, is this really what you wanted me to do? Is this why you wanted me to be a part if the church? Is this man so important to you that I must take care of him?" Surely if he was dangerous, my grandmother wouldn't want me to take care of him...

Surely she'd want to keep me safe.

Certainly... right?
