chapter 14

          "Just a nightmare", Beomgyu replied briefly in a timid tone and swallowed nervously, feeling how pain was fading away from his chest.

          "Hmm", Yeonjun hummed in understanding and nodded his head, his back flopping down on his seat and his eyes looking up at the ceiling of the car since he couldn't find any better distraction, "Do you want to leave the lights on?", he asked in a quiet, husky voice, and he had no idea why he cared, all he and Beomgyu had ever done was fighting nonstop, but still he couldn't help it. He was still a human after all.

          Beomgyu shook his head, knowing very well that having lights on wouldn't change anything or take away fear deeply buried in his heart, "No, I'm fine", he replied simply and switched off the lights by himself since Yeonjun seemed too comfortable being sprawled carelessly on his seat and Beomgyu didn't want to disturb him. The younger boy wiped the latest beads of sweat off his face before slumping against the back of his seat and trying to calm his nerves completely, it was just a dream after all, and indeed he had nothing to worry about.

          Both boys fell into silence as they rested against their seats and after they started to pay attention to their surroundings, the sounds of vehicles in the city became audible in their ears as some cars would pass by, and make contact with the ground with their rapid moving wheels. Those little sounds were too soothing to the black-haired male and he could feel how his nerves were relaxing one by one, causing him to finally feel a hint of liveliness in his now calm heart. But, on the contrary, Yeonjun was disturbed by the annoying noise coming from the outside, and agitation started to boil in his head. He was feeling like shit and he just wanted to fall asleep and get rid of the terrible sickness in his stomach, but the cars wouldn't even let him close his eyes.

          "Hyung", Beomgyu suddenly uttered unintentionally in a quiet voice, causing the older's heart to skip a beat at hearing that word from the boy and he could feel how his breath suddenly got caught in his throat as he momentarily froze in his place, he didn't even know why that word coming from the younger's lips made him so nervous and warm inside, he could feel the heat pouring into his organs as if the sun was shining inside his body and burning him alive. It was quite uncomfortable, he could say and he even shifted uneasily in his seat to get rid of his heat. Unlike him, Beomgyu didn't even notice the word slipping out of his mouth since he was sunk in the sea of thoughts and his gloomy eyes were glued to his hands as he played nervously with his slim fingers, "Do you believe in previous lives?"

          His question caused Yeonjun's discomfort to be replaced by utter confusion, not getting why the younger was asking something like that, or why his voice sounded so sad, "No", he answered sincerely, "What made you think about it?"

          There was a moment of silence before Beomgyu managed to declare out loud what he had been afraid of all his life, and keeping in his heart as a secret he was scared to reveal, "Because, I think, I died in mine"

          Yeonjun used some seconds to process the information, his brows drawn together and his eyes focused, but then some joy flowed into his body and a quiet snicker escaped his lips, causing Beomgyu to look over at him confusingly as he felt offended by the older's reaction, thinking he was mocking him for saying something like that, "Everyone dies, you dumbass", Yeonjun announced cheerfully, "If we have lived before too, sure it would have happened"

          "No", Beomgyu quickly refused his words, "I mean, someone killed me"

          Yeonjun's expression slowly changed to the serious one and he let out a loud sigh before rubbing his forehead, "Is this because of your nightmare?", he asked and gazed at the male in disbelief while Beomgyu stared at him with unknown emotions swimming in his distressed eyes, "Come on, everyone sees them. I've seen my death many times too. You're not the exception"
