Chapter 1

The bell rang and fourth period began, I sat in my normal assigned seat as I always did. The teacher was giving another lecture about the literature arts and how "exquisite" English history is. I was distracted though, fixed on something else until I noticed some new girl staring at me. I didn't know why she was staring at me, I just assumed it's because she dislikes me.
            The bell rang again and it was time for lunch, "ugh finally" Vena never really liked Ms. Jackson's lectures on English history, but I didn't mind them as much, besides the long assignments that she gives the class for homework. "want to walk to lunch together?"  "sure why not" Vena's locker is on the other side of the school while mine is right next to the cafeteria, but it's cool because I don't mind the little walk back and forth.
                As I walked with Vena something or rather someone caught my eye, it was a boy and Im pretty sure he's one of the new students that principal Mrs. Mandel was talking about on the morning announcements. "Zara? hello? Earth to Zara?" "Huh, oh yeah sorry Vena what were you saying again?" " you were looking at the new kid right? I heard he was expelled from his old school for getting into a fight and beating up a kid" " Vena? Where'd you- no who'd you hear that stupid rumor from?" " From a little bird high up in the sky Zara, high up in the sky" Vena has a tendency to believe.. well ANYTHING she hears. She has these conspiracy theories that the government has cameras everywhere, and when I said everywhere I mean EVERYWHERE. " ladies! Get a move on, chop chop" that was Mr. Kian, he makes sure that kids go head to the cafeteria instead of lounging around the lockers.
"anyways let's go before we get in trouble" "okay okay"
As we approached the cafeteria I saw Fiona and Luke waiting at our usual table, but there was a new person sitting with them, it was the same girl from English class. "Hey Vena, hey Zara what's up?"
"hey Luke, who's this?" " oh this is Sarah, she was just asking where the library was" " hi I'm Fiona, and this is my friend Zara " the new girl just stared at me. " oh uh.. sorry I'm really bad at introductions, hi I'm Sarah lye-lack" that response seemed like a lie but I was to hungry to really dig into it. " well I'll going, have to borrow some books from the library, bye " I watched the new girl turn around and walk towards the library but for a spilt second she turned around, and looked in my direction. That startled me and had caused me to turn my back swiftly. " hey Zara you okay? " " yeah, I'm fine, but I am kinda hungry so if you don't mind us eating before fifth period that be great " " oh shoot you're right, lunch is almost over in about 20 minutes" " we better eat before Mrs. Lane class starts and he marks us absent for the sixth time this month " "shit, my parents said if I'm late again in his class they'd take my phone for a whole week " Fiona's parents are kind of strict compared to mine. "yeah, same here. My dad said he'd ground me for a week if he gets another call from school about my tardiness in Mrs. Lane's class" " fuck dude, then we'd better start eating quickly if we don't want to be late for next period " and we did exactly that.
