Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
|Luke 22:42 KJV |

Comment:
In this verse, our Lord is asking the father to remove the cup filled with death and pain from him, but he says not his will but the Father's will be done, and that is a great lesson to us. A reminder that we must humble ourselves before God, and even though the Bible says ask and it shall be given unto you, it shall only be given if it is in the Perfect Will of God.

Many times we want certain things to happen and we ask and ask God, and when it doesn't happen we are angry with him but we must ALWAYS remember that it is His will that is perfect and he knows why. Our will and wants are not above God's will because he knows the past, the present, and the future.

You may want to go on a vacation, and you may pray and pray about it but in the end, you never get the time off from work and you are angry with God but MAYBE if you had gone on vacation and you took that plane it may have crashed, with you on it.

So always remember, not your will but HIS will.
