"Ha! I've downed not one, but two Order members!" Cassie cheered. A scream of agony came from the group.
Petra was on her knees, holding her eye. Jack was by her side, shaking. Cassie sauntered away, laughing maniacally under her breath.
"Petra, are you alright!?" Romeo gasped.
"I don't think she is," Jack stuttered. Petra moved her hand away. There was blood covering her hands.
"Jack, I-I can't see a thing," Petra muttered, clearly crying.
Jack pushed Petra's hair out of her face and pulled her to face him. His eyes widened at screamed. Petra doubled over, terrified.
"What is it?! Jack, what's wrong with me!?" Petra cried. Jack stood up, backing away from the bloodied woman laying in front of him.
"It's- oh my god, I'm gonna throw up," Jack said, propping himself against a tree. Romeo slid where he sat, trying to understand what happened.
"What happened!? I can't see anything, please," Petra cried, basically begging for an answer.
"Petra, I-" Romeo stumbled, "I'm so sorry. It's gone, Petra. Your other eye is gone."
"What!?" Petra yelled, stumbling to her feet, "No! This... this can't be happening!"
"Stop it, Petra! You're losing blood too fast," Harper cried, grabbing the younger woman's arm and sitting her down.
Harper pulled out a gauze. She pressed the gauze against Petra's eyesocket and it got completely soaked. Harper pulled out a slightly bigger gauze and pressed it against Petra's face. She had Petra hold it down and she pulled out a roll of bandages. Harper ripped off Petra's bandana and started frantically wrapping the bandages around the gauze. Once she was finished, she took a deep breath and put Petra's bandana back on. Petra sat there in complete silence the entire time.
"There, that'll hold it for now," Harper sighed. Petra inhaled sharply a few times. She held her still bloody hand to her mouth.
Petra took a few deep breaths, but she couldn't hold it anymore. She started crying.
"I'm sorry, guys, this isn't like me to cry over these things!" Petra sobbed. Harper hugged Petra.
"Petra, you're allowed to cry! No need to apologize!" Romeo said, resting his hand on her shoulder.
"I don't like agreeing with him, but I do right now. You're always so hard of yourself, Petra. Even I would cry if this happened to me," Jack piped up.
"Thanks, guys, really," Petra mumbled, still crying.
"Okay, we're going to stop for a bit. We all need a bit of rest, especially Petra. Ivor and I are going to find some food, we'll be back soon," Harper said, grabbing Ivor's hand. The two walked off.
Petra was trying to calm herself down a bit. Jack kept to himself as his way of coping. Romeo did his best to comfort Petra, and it worked a bit. She wasn't choking back sobs anymore if that counts for anything. Xara kept on watch and warded off mobs.
"We're back!" Ivor shouted. The four of them looked up at the couple coming back. Harper was holding a few different kinds of fruit while Ivor had some bread.
Harper sat down across from Petra and held out an apple. Petra didn't notice due to her newfound blindness. Harper laughed at herself after realizing.
"What are you laughing about?" Petra asked.
"Oh, nothing, I just forgot that you can't see," Harper said. Petra turned her hand away.
"Could we... not talk about it? I'm really trying to get my mind off of it," Petra sputtered.
