"Fight! Fight Fight!"

"You hear that, Dani? Go on! Give them what they want!"

"I'm not going to fight you!"

               "Fine. Duel me then."

The end of the month approached faster than expected. Before we knew it, the deadline for Umbridge's essay had arrived. Luckily, Dean and I had managed to finish it on time and even had a spare week to focus on our O.W.L.s.

With quivering legs, I walked to the front of the classroom and placed our finished essay on Professor Umbridge's desk. Despite it having been a fairly easy assignment, I was still nervous to actually give it to the new Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. So far, I had no clue how she would be grading our papers. But even though I was nervous, I knew that we had written just about everything on magical mists and their counter-charms. Through our extra research, we had discovered a dark creature made entirely of mist called the Hinkypunk, a glowing wisp of smoke that would lure travellers down dangerous roads in order to help them get lost. We figured the bit of extra effort would pay off in the end.

It seemed like my talk with Draco had worked out well for Padma because she stopped joining our library sessions directly after. Apparently, Draco had tossed a few crumbs and finally started cooperating. I couldn't help but feel a little proud that I got them to work together. Draco usually didn't budge for anyone.

Last night, well after curfew, Padma snuck into our dorm room. During breakfast, she explained that she and Draco had to pull a lot of after-hours to catch up on their lost time. However, it seemed like they had managed to finish their essay after all because Draco was now confidently walking towards the front of the classroom. He took a halt next to me, shot a self-satisfied, smug smile in my direction, and placed his essay on the pile as well.

"I got over it," he said.

I rolled my eyes at him, saying, "Do you expect applause?"

He raised one of his eyebrows, pretending to think about my question for a moment, and then said, "I do now that you have mentioned it."

               "In your dreams," I teased.

"It's not my dreams you're haunting, Willows," Draco whispered before making his way back to his seat.

I couldn't help but smile. Somehow the thought of me irritating Draco in his nightmares felt weirdly comforting to me.

As I turned around to walk to my seat at the back of the classroom, something suddenly flew past my face. It was a flying, paper bird, floating around the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. Someone had cast the origami bird charm.

Seamus tried to smack it, but the bird flew out of his reach, circling around the chandelier that was hanging from the ceiling. Crabbe tried to hit it out of the air with his slingshot but once again, the bird avoided the attack and swerved above the students' heads.
