At First Glimpse

I have never felt more alone, like most should feel walking into unknown territory.

It was my first day as a new student in Korea, I had immigrated with my adopted parents from England, everything and everyone here was overwhelming. Well of course nothing is the same as it had been in my old life, same rainy dreamy weather, pale gray skies, morning coffee at the usual cafe playing the game who could find the cutest guys walking by outside, same laughter and 3 am chats I would have when I would sneak into my best friend Amelia's house because she lived right next door.

Amelia and I have always been friends, longer than I could remember, apparently we had both been in the same Orphanage when we were at the age of 4 causing little troubles where ever we went then ending up being adopted by our mothers who were best friends at the time. Our mother's passed away in a car accident together when we were 11. I of all people had been the one to hold Amelia when the police arrived at her doorstep to inform Amelia's dad her mother had passed on, I can still remember clearly the echo of cries in the bathroom holding my best friend as close as possible to my chest, I was never able to process that amount of information so putting my emotions to the side to support Amelia because I somehow knew I could handle it more than her. I was strong up until the point when Amelia cried and choked on her words "I promise to never let you down like our mothers did, to never leave you behind, you mean too much to me! let's promise each other please you're the only person I can trust" It hadn't even taken me a minute to then and there to feel the tears that rushed down my face that night, it was the first and last time I officially broke inside, the realization all we had now was each other to lean on there on forth. Since then we have been closer than ever, most of our classmates and teachers would call us inseparable rebels.

Stepping onto new grounds of the school made my stomach flip, seeing everything but familiar faces I glanced back praying my parents would suddenly turn back, take me home, and tell me it was all a joke. Watching as the car drove out of sight down the road sighing a mouthful of regret as I walked on into campus grounds observing how everyone was laughing and smiling talking with friends and some older students were making out with their boyfriends attached to each other like glue,

"ugh" I groaned

turning the other direction swiftly so I don't have to torture myself by seeing all the love birds practically eating each other's saliva. I never understood it, what even is the point of dating? to fall in love for your heart only to be shattered to pieces just sounds like a waste of time to me.

Getting annoyed with my own trace of thought I tug my hood over my head and run into the entrance only to find myself running into something hard, I heard my bag fall to the ground and my stuff spill out, my palms throbbed from the impact.

"ah shit so much for being invisible this year" I then heard a gasp near me

"oi you alright there!?" 

I looked up to see a tall guy standing before me with dark brunette hair pulled back wearing a gray flannel with jeans and the school's tye, his hand on his hip offering his hand to me,

"i- hi sorry I'm fine don't worry" I gave him a nervous smile and stood up to pick up my belongings until I noticed I wasn't the only one doing so, passing me a textbook he gave me a friendly wide smile,

"not need to be sorry I should have looked where I was going too, that's on me, but anyways hi I'm Bangchan nice to meet ya!"

"Thanks....Willow, same here, " I eyed him suspiciously and accepted the books he was helping me pick up

"oh cool! which class you in you seem new

"class 2B"

"of course, funny coincidence eh, I'm in the same class I could show you there if you want"
