11 - loving again

they're healing;

tentatively smiling in cafes

across the table,

hands intertwined

squinting eyes in the sunlight

short bursts of laughter

filling spaces too long empty.

they're learning;

stressing over homework

losing pencils,

skipping class to kiss under the pine tree

cheeky mistletoe on Christmas

scheduling appointments

moving closer on the sofa.

they're feeling;

getting comfortable with those words

being sensual,

in a way they couldn't before

like the hot and passionate color of

autumn leaves

dirty jokes passed through fingertips.

they're loving again.
