~ Trains ~

Lilly

One minute past four.

I had just made it.

After my last class ended, I practically flew off campus towards the train station, in hopes that I wouldn't miss the four o'clock train home due to Professor Marsden waffling on about active transport for ten minutes longer than my schedule allowed him to. It's already bad enough that I have an hour long journey home, I'd rather not have to wait an extra two hours for the next train.

Once I board the train, the doors close almost instantaneously and I sigh in relief. Until, I turn around and discover there are no seats left. There is one other guy standing, but I don't get a look at his face as he's facing the door opposite me with his hand holding a tight grip on the metal bar above his head. He's wearing a baseball cap, but I can see his chocolate brown hair poking through the bottom of the hat. I can infer from the leather jacket and black skinny jeans, which probably have rips at the knees, that he is either an introvert or a bad boy.

Nevertheless, I take a leaf out of his book and face the door on this side of the carriage, placing my hand on the rail above my head, almost mirroring his posture.

I'll get a seat when people get off at the next stop.

I boarded the train with seconds to spare.

Breathe in, breathe out.

Just as I thought the doors to the carriage were about to close, a girl about my age ran on from the other side of the platform, huffing and puffing. I stared at her through the reflection in the glass of the doors once they closed, not even milliseconds after she boarded. Her long, blonde - but with a pastel pink tint, like it had been dyed but was slowly washing out - hair flowing over her shoulders in beachy waves as her eyes wandered the carriage for a seat.

After seeing there were none, she sighed and her eyes landed on my figure that was subtly watching her with my back facing her. She couldn't see my face, which I was glad for because she seemed like the overly caring type who, once she would've caught sight of the raging purple bruise under my left eye, would've ran over and asked if I was okay.

I really didn't need another person to ask me that question today.

The train finally left the station with a screech as the wheels began rotating along the track beneath us. I continued to gaze through the reflection in the window at the girl as she plugged her earphones in and started subtly tapping her foot to the beat of the music. She glanced around at the people on the train, making sure no one was watching her, before starting to mouth the lyrics of the song.

This action brought my attention to her lips. They looked unbelievably soft, but firm at the same time judging by the thickness of them. Her top lip was perfectly even with her bottom one, both of them completely centred on her face. The distance between her lips and her nose was, once again, perfect. My eyes roamed around the rest of her face. Her beautiful, almond shaped eyes seemed to be the feature that encapsulated me the most. I was absolutely captivated by this girl, who looked to be a university student with her tote bag hung over her right shoulder and the bulging ring binder that she held tightly in her folded arms, as if she adored it with every inch of her being.

I had become completely infatuated by her within minutes, something that I hadn't been able to admit for a very long time. In fact, it had been so long since I had found myself being attracted to a girl that I was beginning to question my sexuality.

The train had long since left the underground by now, cruising smoothly through the valley just on the outskirts of the city as we headed towards home.

But we never made it there.

***
hello everyone, i'm back from the dead it seems
in all honesty, I'm on holiday and decided to reminisce old times and downloaded Wattpad again. I haven't been on here in nearly a year. I wrote this a long time ago, but it's been say in my drafts the whole time so I thought why not post it.

If any of my old readers are still here, please connect with me, I miss you guys. Im sorry for going MIA for so long. As some of you know, I'm deep into my degree by now and the struggle is real

Truth be told I've had a bit of a career wobble and no longer want to stay on the path I am on, so the motivation to continue my degree has gone down the drain. Sadly, I'm too far into the course that I cannot change because I am unable to get full funding for another full degree. I have other options though, thankfully, and I am clinging onto the them for hope

Anyway, I'm happy to be back, and really hope you enjoy this prologue. I was quite proud of it when I first wrote it
