What you can do as Allies

If you are a non-Asian ally that would like to help out, here are a few things you can do!

1. Spread Awareness

Post the #StopAsianHate hashtag on your Wattpad bios and other social media profiles. Visibility for this movement is everything, especially because Anti-Asian hate goes largely ignored in the media. Showing your support in this way will help more than you may imagine!  

2. Shut Down Stereotypes

If you hear any racist jokes, please help point them out and respectfully tell the person who said it to stop. Even though they could just be joking, their words normalize racism and perpetuate harmful stereotypes. 

3. Check in with your Asian/AAPI friends

Scan the headlines for attacks on Asians in your area so that you can be informed about them. If you have any Asian friends nearby, check in with them and ask if they are alright. Some of us may be scared to go out in public because we don't want to be the next victim of an attack. Offer to deliver groceries to them or lend a hand. Let them know that you're an ally they can talk to!

4. Donate

There are several organizations you can donate to. They will use your funds to protect innocent people and further advance justice for all. This suggestion is purely optional, but a little will go a long way.

If you're a white/Caucasian ally, then thank you so much for understanding this issue. Since people are more likely to listen to you than they would to a person of color, speaking up about this cause would really help. Thank you for being educated, progressive, kind, and understanding!

If you are a non-Asian POC, then we want you to know that we're all in this together. All minority lives matter, so let's support each other and stand with our BIPOC communities in partnership!
