We walked up the driveway, and Riker threw Ross his keys as he went to the trunk to grab his stuff. Ross unlocked the front door and walked in.

“Mom! We’re home! I have a friend, we’re going to go work on a project!” Ross shouted, slipping his shoes off, and dropping his bag on the floor. The others walked in and did the same. “You can just leave your shoes and bag there, we can go up to our practice room to work on it.” Ross told me, waiting for me to do it, then grabbing my hand and pulling me upstairs. When we got there, an older woman, who I assumed was his mom, was in there, cleaning up. The room was full of instruments and a couple  couches.

“Well hello, I’m Stormie, their mom.” She said to me, as Ross left the room, after whispering  into my ear that he was gonna go change.  I talked to his mom for a bit, mainly explaining what the assignment was, and she invited me to dinner.

“I would love too, but I think my mom would want me home, I still have some unpacking to do.” I told her politely as Ross walked back in. She nodded and walked out of the room, downstairs.

Then Ross sat down next to me, grabbed a  guitar himself and handed me one, and we got to work.

After a while of trying to come up with a song that wouldn’t be used by any of the other groups, we decided to just write our own. Riker and Rocky helped us, and by 5:00, we were done, and practicing.

SONG: (Christmas soul, duet style) Courtney, Ross, Both

1, 2, 3, 4,!

Uh-huh

I always loved this time of year,

White snow and reindeer,

Heh Yeah,

That special something in the air,

Friends and Family everywhere

Oh ohh

When Everybody’s singing,

My heart starts jing-a-lingin’

There’s something ‘bout those December nights.

Today’s the day! Let’s Celebrate,

With that Christmas Soul, feel that Christmas soul

We got that reindeer

Kinda cheer

Santa's flying over here

All the way from the North Pole!

'Cause we got Christmas Soul

Yeah, we got Christmas Soul

Uh, yeah! What (What)

When it get's real cold outside

I'm ma take you on a sleigh ride Woo!

We'll come and gather 'round the tree

And we'll make some memories Oh, oh, yeah

When everybody's singing

My heart starts jing-a-lingin'

There's something 'bout those December nights

Today's the day

Let's celebrate with that Christmas Soul

Feel that Christmas Soul

We'll have a ball

Let's deck the halls with that Christmas Soul

Feel that Christmas Soul

We got that reindeer

Kinda cheer

Santa's flying over here

All the way from the North Pole!

'Cause we got Christmas Soul

Just clap your hands We can dance tonight (Come on!)

If you got Christmas spirit Let it shine bright (Uh-huh)

I said Just clap your hands

We can dance tonight (Oh!)

If you got Christmas spirit Let it shine bright

Yeah, yeah

Today's the day Let's celebrate with that Christmas Soul

Feel that Christmas Soul We'll have a ball

Let's deck the halls with that Christmas Soul

Feel that Christmas Soul

We got that reindeer Kinda cheer

Santa's flying over here All the way from the North Pole!

'Cause we got Christmas Soul Just feel that, just feel that

Just feel that Christmas Soul (Christmas Soul!) Just feel that, just feel that Just feel that Christmas Soul (Yeah, we'll feel that Christmas Soul!) Just feel that, just feel that Just feel that Christmas Soul Oooh

We finished the song and his brothers, and Rydel all clapped. We all practically fell over laughing. Ross high fived me, locking our fingers, “We are gonna nail this thing!” He said as he released my hand. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, checking the time.

“Well, I should probably go, my mom’s gonna start worrying.” I said, standing up.

“Do you need a ride?” Riker asked me.

“No, I can walk, the new house is like right down the street.” I said with a smile.

“I’ll walk with you” Ross said, jumping up. I nodded and we both ran downstairs, slipping our shoes on. “Mom! I’m gonna walk her home, be back in a bit!” Ross yelled as I picked up my bag and slung it over my shoulder. He grabbed my books, and held the door open for me. I smiled my thanks and walked out, immediately regretting not wearing a jacket to school. Ross must’ve noticed. “Do you want to borrow one of my hoodies?” He asked me, with a smirk. I nodded thankfully, and we went back inside as he ran upstairs to his room. He came back with orange Hollister hoodie, taking my bag from me as I pulled it over my body. Now warm, we walked out into the night, talking about random things as we walked, occasionally bumping hands or shoulders, but it wasn’t awkward at all, just comfortable. After about 6 houses, I recognized our new home.

“This is it, thanks a lot Ross, for everything.” I said as we walked up the driveway, taking my books from him, and setting everything down outside, preparing to take off his hoodie to return to him. He shook his head.

“You can keep it for now. It looks good on you.” He said with a wink as he started walking back down the driveway. “Bye, see you tomorrow, do you want a ride to school?” He asked me, from the end of the driveway. I thought for a moment.

“Sure. I’d love that.” I told him with a smile. He returned it.

“Great. I’ll text you later.” He said as he walked down the street, and I opened the door to my house, to find my mom unpacking the living room.

“There you are sweetie, how was your day?” She asked me. I told her all about it, and told me, “ Just don’t tell your dad about this boy.” Just as she said it, my dad walked in the front door, I mentally facepalmed ask my dad asked about the boy. Luckily mom didn’t give anything up, and we spent the rest of the night watching movies and eating takeout.

I went to bed that night with a big smile. L.A. was gonna be better than the last town..
