The students were stretching when Johnny walked in. Miguel was instantly going over to his side. "Hey Sensei. Sorry for you loss." He said in a low whisper. "Thanks." Johnny said as he kept walk, Miguel falling in sync with his steps. "So how was the funeral?" Johnny looked over at him. "As good as any funeral can be. How where things around here while I was gone?" Johnny asked, he had stopped walking. "Great. I mean Sensei Kreese is tough, but he knows what it takes to win." Johnny nodded sligntly before walking into the back room.
Johnny walked back out, Kreese behind him. "Everybody get your gis on! Training starts in five minutes." Johnny called. Everyone seemed slightly confused by this and walked over to him. "What's wrong?" Johnny asked. "Nothing's wrong. I just thought we were going into the woods for special training today." Miguel answered. Johnny looked back over his shoulder at Kreese. "Why, what's gapping in the woods?" Johnny asked, eyeing Kreese as the older man moved to stand by his side. "I thought it was time to separate the men from the boys. And the girls too, I suppose." He said. Johnny stared at him. "How?" Kreese leaned towards him some, dropping his voice to a slight whisper. "Coyote Creek."
"I don't think they are ready for that." Johnny whispered back, turning to face him. "There's only one way to find out." Eli moved forward a step. "We are ready Sensei. We want to prove ourselves." He told him, hands behind his back. "This is up to Sensei Lawrence. If he says it's okay then, and only then, is it okay." Kreese looked at the students. Johnny looked at the students, Miguel looked hopeful. "Alright, what are you waiting for. Let's go." The students smiled and started to head out, talking amongst themselves.
All the Miyagi-Do students were crowded under the shade of a tree. "It's so hot, I'm sweating in places I didn't even know I had pores." Demetri said in a breathless tone. Robby was chugging hid water. Daniel
walked over. "Alright guys, get out from under that tree. It's time to get to work." They all groaned, those that sat on the ground getting up. "Hey Mr. Larusso it's like 100 degrees out. Can we take it easy today?" Robby asked him. "Are you kidding? This heatwave is a gift." Daniel said, a smile on his face. "Today you are going to be experiencing Shochu-Geiko." Chris looked at him with a confused look. "Like the car insurance?"
"Shochu-Geiko is a Japanese exercise where you train during the hottest days of the year. It's about pushing yourself to your limit. The fight isn't always going to come when it's 75 and breezy." He told his students. "Aren't we supposed to avoid fighting?" Sam asked, pulling her dad's attention over to her. "Sometimes you can't. Someday the fight is going to come to you. And I want to make sure you're ready. So let's see what Miyagi-Do is made of."
The Cobra Kai students stood in the forest, separated into two teams. "Welcome to Coyote Creek gentlemen. And ladies. As you can see you've been separated into two teams. Red and black." Kreese walked down the middle and help up a red strip of cloth and Johnny held up his black one, something he has always worn even as a Cobra Kai student himself. "The goal is to capture as many headbands as possible from the other side. Today the people across from you are not your friend, are not your brother. They are the enemy. Last team standing wins." Johnny stared at Kreese as the older man spoke. "How do we get the headbands?" Miguel asked, he was on the black team. Kreese looked over at the boy. "By any means possible." He told him before Johnny also answered. "Use your judgement. This is only a training exercise."
"Correct, but remember. This is your life." Kreese said, holding up his headband. "Lose it, you die."
"Hey guys sorry I'm late traffic on 118 was a bitch. I put Coyote Creek into the nav but nothing came up." Raymond said walking up. He wore a jacket with sunglasses and his beard braided. "What have you done to yourself?" Johnny asked, looking at him. "Oh the.." Raymond trailed off, taking off his sunglasses. "I decided to flip the script. Hawk-style. Respect, henceforth you can call me Stingray." The man said. Eli looked confused by that comment. Stingray had a slight smile on his face. "Alright Chubs, he's in your team." Johnny said looking at Kreese. Stingray's smile fell. "Terrific." Kreese said sarcastically.
