Kat left and went to the kitchen to get two more beer.

“So, if you had another chance, would you take it?”

Gina waited until Kat was back in the living room before answering.

“In a second.”

Kat tapped Gina’s bottle with hers.

“Then maybe we can arrange exactly that. Because in all honesty, Gina, I think you are a very beautiful, wonderful woman and if Dylan fucks this up, I will personally kill him.”

Gina smiled.

“But how will this happen. Dylan won’t even talk to me.”

“He will. He is in Mexico right now. We have a condo there and he flew down there to take some time to himself. He is coming back in a week or so and I believe when he does, he will be his old self again. I want you and the kids to fly to Toronto and stay with us for a while and that will be your opportunity to talk to Dylan, if you want it,” Kat offered.

Gina nodded.

“Do you think he will talk to me?”

“He is in this mess because he knows he fucked up with you. He told his father that he wished he could turn back time and make everything right again. But he is so stubborn and proud, he won’t admit it to you.”

Kat stared at Gina.

“He still loves you. I know this. Give him a chance to redeem himself.”

Gina nodded.

“Okay.”

“Good,” Kat said.

“And if he fucks things up again, we will both kill him.”

The women raised their glasses.

“Cheers to that,” Gina said.

There was a moments silence before Gina spoke again.

“Thank you Kat.”

“No, thank you. You could have closed the door on me and that would have been that.”

Gina shook her head.

“I couldn't do that. That is not my nature. I am so happy we had this talk.”

“Me too,” Kat agreed.

At that moment the door to the apartment opened and the three kids came in.

Melissa ran straight to her mother.

“Can Tyla and her Nanny stay for dinner. Please, Mommy.”

Gina looked at Kat.

“Well Nanny, what do you say?”

“Hmmm. Anyone here like pizza?” she asked.

“Yes,” they all yelled in unison, including Gina.

“Then call up your favourite pizza place. Nanny Lambert is treating.”

She looked at Gina.

“Not a word from you, young lady.”

It was about 9 in the evening when Kat said it was time to leave.

“Do we have too?” Tyla pouted.

“When do you leave?” Gina asked.

“We have to leave tomorrow. It is Jamie’s birthday the next day and we will be skinned alive if we miss it,” Kat explained.

“What time does your flight leave?”

“Around ten in the morning,” Kat said.

Gina looked at Tyla and Melissa.

“What if Tyla spent the night here and I will see she gets up in plenty of time for the flight.”

“Yes,” both girls squealed.

“Please, please, please.”

Kat smiled.

“You sure, Gina?”

Gina nodded.

“I am positive.”

The girls were still chorusing, “Please, please, please.”

Kat gave her granddaughter a hug and kiss.

“I will call in the morning and pick you up on the way to the airport.”

The two girls started screaming and both hugged Kat and Gina and ran to Melissa’s bedroom.

Brandon went to Kat, offering his hand.

“Thank you for the pizza.”

Kat pushed his hand away and gave him a hug.

As always Brandon blushed.

He headed off to his room.

Gina walked Kat to the door.

Kat had already called the hotel to send a car for her.

“Another little secret,” she had told Gina.

The two women hugged.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to meet you, Gina. I hope and pray that my dumbass son doesn't blow this with you.”

Gina smiled.

“Me too.”

“I will call you soon to make the arrangements.”

Kat hugged Gina again and walked down the hall.

Gina waited until she was out of sight and went back into her apartment.

She leaned against the closed door.

“Please, God. Give me a break on this one.”
