"Fuller." His mom sighed. "What did I told you before leaving the house?"
He fiddled with his fingers and let out a quiet, "Apologize."
"Then do it."
He didn't. At least he looked like he wasn't prepared for this.
Next to her, Faith seemed to have enough. She didn't want to wait any longer and rolled her eges. "If you're not going to say anything, you know where the door is. It was very unpleasant to meet you."
"Faith!" Keygan exclaimed from behind, beating his mother to it. "That was extremely rude and I expect you to apologize."
She scoffed instead. "You have no idea what he did to me and expecting me to apologize? No, I'm not going to."
"Whatever he did to you, that doesn't give you a reason to be rude to him," Mrs. Blythe said.
Keyara landed a hand on her shoulder. She shook her head and Faith nodded, still maintaining the scowl.
"I-I'm sorry, Faith. I didn't mean anything I did to yo-"
"Of course you didn't," the words slid out of Faith's mouth without a stutter.
Fuller decided not to acknowledge it. "I was wrong-"
"Glad you realized."
Keyara accidently let a snicker escape. Her hand flew to her lips before she could giggle in amusement.
Keygan's craned his neck towards her. He felt slightly suspicious of her yet his lips twitched when his eyes fell on her smiling eyes.
She sure found this amusing instead of anything else.
"For everything I did to you. I was childish and immature-"
"You still are."
Fuller clenched his jaw. Faith was making such a simple thing as an apology difficult. Keyara found this interesting, and amusing.
"I-I'm just sorry. I won't do it again."
Faith's smirk suddenly dissolved into something more cold. The straight line of her lips said nothing about her being the same kid she was like while Keyara and her were trying to paint.
Her tongue pushed her inner cheek. "Is there a guarantee?"
As if she already knew her answer on her own, Faith changed her facing direction and ran upstairs, leaving fews puzzled eyes behind.
Except Keyara.
She knew exactly what and how she felt.
No one was to blame, it was the own fear and insecurity that ate up the trust she tried to muster for people she thought were nice.
But it was all useless.
Trusting people was like adding ashes to fire.
As Keyara made a move to leave and follow Faith, Fuller's mom called her by her name, which made her turn with a glare.
That woman gulped. "I'm actually sorry too, I shouldn't have accused you without k-"
Keyara never bothered to listen.
She followed Faith's lead and found the little girl making snow angel on the bed, bedsheet and comforter crumpled in a heap on the floor.
Keyara went and lied next to her, heaving out a sigh. "So, how do you feel?"
Faith shot back the same question. "How do you fell?"
Keyara craned her neck so they were face to face. Then she cracked a smile, causing Faith to laugh.
