Chapter 19

"Oh, so boyfriend mo si Kian?" biglang sabi niya.

Napatingin ako sa kanya. "Stop saying nonsense things." sabi ko. "And don't talk to me ever again." dagdag ko.

"O-Okay!" sagot ni Rina saka naglakad pabalik kung saan kami nanggaling.

Tumingin ulit ako kung saan dumaan yung kotse ni Kian palabas.

Kian, why are you so mad in the first place?

Do you like me?

"Kian, what are we?" bulong ko sa sarili ko.

I can't do anything but to go home. I explained myself. I hope he won't get mad at me for long. I will try to talk to him tomorrow or when I have a chance.

I'll let him for now.

Rina's words keeps on repeating inside my head to bed. Even Kian's reaction to what happened feels different, like it has a meaning.

Tumingin ako doon sa monkey stuffed toy na binigay ni Kian. "Do you think Kian likes me too?"

I am so confused.

It's been days since it happened but I didn't even get to talk to him.

Because I am scared to approach him and to start a conversation with him.

After what happened a few days ago, I felt like Kian became more intimidating. Ever since that day he didn't even try to talk to me. I am used to Kian initiating the conversation between us.

But now it felt like we're back from the start.

I know that it's my fault too for not talking to him but still! I am scared of Kian. Tss.

Like what I've told Rina, she didn't talk to me either since that day. I unfriended her. It's what she deserves.

"Ang init." bulong ko sa sarili ko sabay punas ng pawis na nasa noo ko.

Papunta kasi ako sa college department. Our adviser asked me to bring this papers to a professor.

This is why I hate finishing my quizzes that fast. Ako nauutusan eh. Hays.

Nakita ko rin naman agad yung hinahanap kong tao at naibigay ko yung pinapahatid sa'kin.

I looked around sa mga building at sa mismong grounds ng college. Ibang-iba ang aura at ambiance rito kesa sa lower levels.

I am still not sure kung dito nga ako papasok next school year, pero high percentage pa rin na rito ako para hindi na lumayo.

"Jay!" biglang may tumawag sa'kin.

Napatingin ako kung saan, nakita ko si Jas at Nick na nakaupo sa isa sa mga benches.

"Hi Jas, Nick!" bati ko sa kanila. Ang laki pa nang ngiti ko. Medyo matagal ko rin silang hindi nakita.

"Hoy ah, pumunta ka mamaya ah." sabi ni Jas.

H-Huh?

"P-Punta saan?" naguguluhang tanong ko.

Wala akong maalala na may sinabi sila? or baka nakalimutan ko lang talaga?

"Didn't Kian tell you?" tanong pabalik ni Nick.

Kaya naman pala eh.

"Uhm..." napahinto pa ako kasi hindi ko alam kung paano sasabihin. "Kian and I had a misunderstanding so we're currently not talking." dagdag ko.

Their face expression quickly changed to being curious.

"Kian managed to ignore you? How come? Pfft." biglang tawa ni Nick.

Hinampas naman siya ni Jas. "Ah really?" tanong niya. "But still pumunta ka ah! It's my birthday today." sabi niya.

"What??? today's your birthday?" tanong ko.

"Yes!" sagot ni Jas.

So maybe that's the reason why Kian is looking for something in the mall the day when we skipped the class? He's looking for a gift for Jas?

"Happy Birth-" hindi ko natuloy yung sasabihin ko noong pinutol ako ni Jas.

"Nope. I won't receive a greeting from you not unless you say it later to me. Now go back to your class baka hinahanap ka na." sinasabi niya 'yon habang tinutulak ako.

"O-Okay, basta send me the location okay?" sabi ko na lang.

"Sure thing! Bye bye!" sabi niya lang.

Wala na kong nagawa kung hindi maglakad na pabalik sa room kaso, break time na yata kasi nasa labas na yung mga estudyante.

"Jay!" tawag ni Ryan pagpasok ko ng room. Nandoon sila ni Adi sa pwesto namin ni Kian.

Lately, after Ryan broke up with her girlfriend, he's been hanging out with us kahit na nasa ibang strand siya.

"Tara let's eat na!" sabi ni Adi.

"Let's go." aya na ni Ryan.

"Ah—"

"Hindi ako pwede eh. Kayo muna! May gagawin pa ako." pinutol ko si Kian.

I lied.

Napatingin naman siya sa gawi ko.

Everytime kasi na kakain kaming lahat, lagi siyang nagdadahilan na may gagawin siya or something. Tss. I know he just doesn't want to be in the same table as me.

And today, I will be the one to adjust so he can eat with our friends.

"Ano? Tsk. Hindi tayo nakukumpleto!" angal ni Adi.

"Hehe sorry." sagot ko na lang. "Bye bye!" paalam ko.

Lumabas ako sa room ng hindi ko alam kung saan ako pupunta at kakain.

Now what should I do? Well I guess sa labas ako kakain ngayong mag-isa. Huhu.
