7 - Herbs

Jiang Cheng woke up to face a puffy eyed child staring at him. He almost screamed in fright but managed to stop himself, sitting up quickly by the edge of the bed.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, rubbing his temples.

Lan Xichen pouted. He had woken early as instilled habit and went looking for the other person. He couldn't help but stare when he noticed the other hadn't awaken yet. Jiang Cheng really had the smoothest skin, and his face was much more relaxed when he was asleep. He almost looked like a different person versus when he was awake. This greatly intrigued the tiny Lan.

"I was waiting for you to wake up!" Lan Xichen replied, smilingly making his way on the bed. He took a seat happily and continued to stare.

Jiang Cheng promptly picked up the child but the arms, and carried him to the door. He settled the tiny Lan down gently outside, and proceeded to shut the door and locked it.

LXC: ( ・◇・)？...— (∘⁼̴⃙̀˘︷˘⁼̴⃙́∘) Gege, let me in.

Seeing that there was no response from inside and he couldn't reenter the room, the small Lan Xichen then stubbornly choose to kneel in waiting right outside the room. His cheeks were puffed pink with anger, which made many guest passing by want to pinch him. How could anyone leave such a cute child outside like this? They were too cruel!

Not even a few minutes went by when Jiang Cheng heard a soft sob from outside, "Gege, why are you so mean. Are you gonna leave me alone out here? I feel so cold!"

The fact was, it wasn't cold at all outside. Mistfall Valley was actually the middle of the warm spring breeze.

"I'm hungry! Gege, what's taking you so long? Uncle would surely be angry if I miss my first lecture."

Jiang Cheng was trying his best to ignore the rambling of the tiny Lan outside. He was putting on his belt when he noticed that the bell was missing. Had he dropped it while rescuing those two last night? ( Ծ⌓Ծ )

"Gege, are you there?" There was a barely noticeable tapping on the door. Then there was a louder sob.

Jiang Cheng was used to hearing a Jin Ling whine like this when he couldn't have something, so he chose to ignore it. But after he heard a pitiful sob, he couldn't help but to quickly open the door.

Lan Xichen, who was outside immediately perked up. He looked at his dashing Gege happily and grabbed on the the other's sleeve. If he had a tail, Jiang Cheng swears it would've been wagging right then. In fact, his tears weren't there at all, he was just faking sobs to grab some pity. Jiang Cheng felt scammed. ( #'⌂')

"Gege, you're so cold! Even Wangji wouldn't have done that!" He rubbed his small face against Jiang Cheng's robes.

"Alright, alright," Jiang Cheng could only resolve to consoling the weepy child, patting his back. He didn't even notice when his habit of straightening out the child's clothes kicked in. He always did it for Jin Ling anyways, but he wanted to hit his head against the wall when he remembered that he was doing it to Sect Leader Lan.

He had thought things through last night and he really had one question he couldn't find an answer for himself; why was it that he was so caring towards this chibi sect leader? Rightfully, he should have thrown the other back to the GusuLan sect and left them to figure it out. But why was it that he couldn't bring himself to leave this tiny Lan.
