I sat on the kitchen counter watching my father prepare dinner. It smelled fantastic. I took a sip of my cold water. Smiling at him when he looked my way.
Luckily for me the officer last night just gave us a warning which meant my father would never have to know. I felt horrible keeping a secret from him but he needed to stay blissfully unaware of how his daughter was turning into a harlot.
"Any plans tonight?" My father asked.
"No I think I'm going to work on some of my homework. Try and get it done before New Year's Eve," I smiled.
"Good idea," he breathed as he flipped the veggies in the frying pan. I always loved watching my father cook. He had such flare while doing it.
"I'm going to go set the table," I said as I jumped off the counter. After last night I needed a nice quiet night in. I was still embarrassed. What on earth had come over me? I kept replaying last night in my mind. I definitely needed something to occupy my time.
I grabbed a set of white plates and cutlery before making my way to the dining room. I gently placed the plates on the table. My father brought the sizzling food moments later.
"So what are you doing for New Years?" My father asked between mouthfuls of delicious food.
"I don't know quite yet,"I shrugged. "Most likely bathed in glitter."
"Sounds shiny,"he chuckled making me laugh along with him
