"Good morning of course." She replied laughing, finding the question ridiculous.

"Joyeux anniversaire."

"Happy birthday."

"je t'aime." He said looking at her. The words just came out of his mouth while he peered at her.

The way she seems so relaxed and happy with the grin on her face felt so heavenly. And he didn't know when he said the word that had been on his mind for a while.

She slowly peered up at him. There was a way he said the words that makes her heart beat faster.

She looked away. She don't want to put much meaning to it or get high hopes but she can't help it with the way her heart was beating so frantically in her chest like he just confessed to her.

It was just a challenging question. She said to herself.

"You don't know that." He said quietly with a bit of humour to clear the awkwardness between them. He could tell she knows the words with how she suddenly turned quiet.

She replied quietly. "That is... I love you." He was staring at her. It looks like he wanted to say something but decides against it before he tore his gaze away from her.

"You got it again." He said chuckling lightly to ease the tension.

She pondered if it was simply a challenge question or if it meant more which he tried to hide. She wished it was the latter.

"...Lola." He called waking her from her reverie. She glanced at him and she muttered an apology. "You didn't answer the question."

"I did."

"Not that. The one after it... la mer est belle."

She found herself smiling. She loves the way the words rolled out his mouth like it was his mother language.

"I guess this one is harder. You don't know this one." He spoke teasingly.

And Lola's face contoured to a frown while Demilade smirked. Not like she don't know what he said, she had been busy admiring his beautiful features.

"Who told you I don't?" She furrowed her brows.

"Then tell me." He said with the side of his lips quirk up.

"What do you say again?" She asked with a moue.

He smiled repeating the words.

She seemed to be thinking about it and she repeated the words to herself while Demilade smiled mischievously.

"Actually, that is literally translated as the sea is beautiful." She was grinning proudly.

He grinned widely, impressed.

"I guess I underestimated you."

"Yeah, you did. I still know how to speak French. My mom do speak french to us when I was little." She sounded sad as she said those words. She paused before she continued and then smiled. "I also learn a few in junior secondary school. So you? How do learn to speak french?"

"Self tutorials using YouTube and some learning apps. I wanted to learn a few languages aside from Yoruba and English. And I did. But it wasn't easy. I practiced my skill any time I go to France."

"I know it won't be easy. I'm not perfect either and it has been ages since I spoke any french language. But if someone had done it... Like you... I can also do it. I just need to be focused and determined."

"You're right about that. But why do you want to study French?"

"I want to be an international translator. It has always been my dream aside from fashion designing." She answered honestly.
