Chapter 10

January 20th, 2019
Nova Taylor - first person

"What's up guys! It's Sam and Colby." Sam shouted. "Back with another video!" Colby added on.

"Today we're here with the one of a kind, Nova Taylor!" Sam said, making me laugh.

"What about me?" Jake asked.

"You're not as important as me." I replied, flipping my hair, making Sam and Colby to laugh.

"Damn." Jake said, frowning and then laughing.

"Anyways, we're exploring an abandoned church, there isn't much of a background story unfortunately." Sam said to the camera.

"There was a fire around 30 years ago in this church with people in it. The starter of the fire was unknown, around 39 people lost their lives." Colby added in, making me frown.

"After the fire, the church became abandoned but people still assessed it." Sam said.

"I've read that people said they could hear voices and knocks, of course they could be lying, but we have to find out on our own." Colby said, giving me chills.

"Yeah and there was others that could hear whispers, saying things like I'm still alive.." Sam added on, looking around the area.

"We have to explore this thing?" I asked, getting freaked out.

"Yup." Sam said, looking back and smiling a bit.

"Fantastic." I said.

All four of us got out of the vehicle, heading towards the entrance.

"Okay, me and Colby are going to explore together, Nova and Jake, here's your camera." Sam said, handing them the camera.

"What would you like us to explore exactly?" I asked, clueless.

"You and Jake will just walk around, film and see what you can find." Colby replied, smiling a bit, making me nod my head.

Jake started filming and we all took a secret entrance that we could find, us all separating with our groups.

I've barely filmed with them, especially exploring abandoned places.

"Have you ever explored with them?" Jake asked.

"Not a day in my life." Nova laughed.

"That's insane, considering you were with Sam for a while." Jake replied, moving his flashlight around.

"I mean, we did some exploring back in Kansas — not too often. It was mostly warehouses." Nova stated, looking around.

Jake turned the camera back on and kept exploring. Nova jumped, almost falling into Jake.

"You okay? What happened?" Jake asked, putting the camera onto Nova.

"I don't know.. I heard like.. a crack or something?" Nova replied.

Within seconds later, she heard it again. Was this place even stable?

"What the fu-" Nova fell to the ground, a beam falling and knocking her down.

"Nova!" Jake screamed. He threw the camera down — as gentle as he could and tried to pull the beam off her.

Jake heard footsteps, obviously from Sam and Colby. He couldn't get the beam off of her back by himself, so the boys helped him.

"What- is she okay??" Sam freaked, putting his hand out. Nova could barely speak — she was winded.

"I- I don't know!" Jake panicked, grabbing his phone to call an ambulance.

"Nova, can you hear me?" Sam asked, looking at her. Her eyes went fuzzy and she couldn't hear.

"Nova?" Colby asked. She blacked out onto the cold hard ground.

"Fuck! This isn't good." Sam screamed, sitting on the ground with her in his arms.

"The ambulance is on its way." Jake stated.

"Did you send them to this location?? We may get screwed if they find out.." Colby said.

"Honestly that's the least of our concern right now." Sam said.

{third person}

Nova was in a hospital bed. The boys didn't understand how it effect her vision when it hit her back.

"Are any of you her siblings? Boyfriend?" The doctor asked, walking in the room, causing the boys to look at Sam.

"Ex." Sam said awkwardly.

"I guess since you're the closest, follow me." The doctor replied, walking out to the hall.

"How is she doing?" Sam asked, crossing his arms.

"She's alright, currently asleep. How did this happen?" He asked, grabbing his clipboard out with a note pad.

Sam explained everything — leaving out the exploring an abandoned place.

"I see. So, just unstable floor boards?" The doctor asked, closing his notepad with the written words in it.

"Yeah — if you'd call it that." Sam shrugged.

"Alright." He nodded and went to walk away before Sam caught him.

"Is she going to be okay?" Sam asked the doctor.

"I would think so, she'll just need to go see a chiropractor or something for her back — nothing too concerning." He smiled.

"Thank you." Sam said, putting his hands together and walking back into Nova's room where the boys were.

Nova was awake when he walked-in. The rest of the boys decided to walk out and give space.

"How you feeling?" Sam asked, moving the chair next to her bed.

"I'm alright.. backs just extremely sore." Nova said, leaning over and rubbing her back.

"I don't doubt it. The doctor said you're okay, you might just have to go see a chiropractor." Sam said with  a small smile.

"Fuck." Nova said, putting her face in her hands.

"I'm really sorry." Sam said, blaming himself.

"For what? It's not your fault." Nova asked, removing her hands.

"It is though, i took you to a place that clearly was stable and-"

"Sam, enough. It's alright." Nova said, cutting him off.

"I just-"

"No." Nova said. Both of them started laughing — for no apparent reason. Maybe it all was going to be okay.
