You stare at me with teary eyes,
I close mine to shut myself off from you.
A thin pane of glass sits in the middle,
Your body just far enough I cannot reach.
I open my eyes to reveal your hands,
Crawling closer to the glass,
Threatening to cross the border.

Crack.

Our heartbeats quicken,
Synchronous, deafening.
My brain swells with anger,
As your hands crawl upon the glass,
Scratching at its surface,
No amount of yelling or screaming is enough,
To drown out your nails scratching the glass.

Crack.

My eyes traces the cracks that you have made,
And it fills me with dread, my blood running cold.
I'm drenched in sweat, you in tears,
We clamor closer to one another.
I look into your misty eyes once again,
Filling up with disgust and anger,
I clench my fists and my mind goes black.

Crack.

I cannot see,
No glass, no you, not anything ahead of me.
I try to step forward.

Crack.

Crack.

Crack.

Bloodied feet and broken glass,
Make for a painful surprise.
My memory fades in and out,
Remembering the events that led to this.
With one heated hit,
I broke the mirror,
And let you escape.
