Grian smiled, placing the final block down. His time machine was finished. "Whatcha working on there?" Impulse's introduction was unknown to Grian, causing him to jump.
"Jeez! You scared me half to death, Impulse!"
Impulse giggled slightly. "Sorry!"
"Well, it's a time machine!"
"A time machine?"
"Yep! With this machine I can travel throughout time with just a click of a button or two, a lever switch, and three rotations of a clock."
"You're like a mad scientist!" Impulse joked.
"I can show you how it works, if you'd like!" Grian smiled as he hovered his hand over the button to open the door.
"Yeah, sure!" the visitor replied. They walked in and Impulse awed at the marvelous, yet small, machine.
"This is the power source, a beacon." Grian planted a hand on the glass and leaned his weight onto it. "And these buttons, this lever. they power the machine up." Grian vaguely waved to the switch and buttons, made of spruce. "This clock is the time part of the time machine, of course. When you power it up, you must spin it three times to finish activating it. And while this compass isn't touched, it's important. It's important to the time-space continium. Makes sure you don't go to far and that you land somewhere safe."
"Well that's awesome, G! Have you tried it yet?"
"Not yet, actually! You walked in as I finished building it. Would you like to test it?"
"I'm good actually! I'm... busy." Impulse nervously laughed. "Thanks for the tour though, G! See you later!" And with that, he flew off.
Grian redirected his attention from his flying friend back to the time machine. "Guess I've got to test it." he muttered to himself. He hit the button and the door opened. He heard the noises of the machine starting up as he readied it. He spun the clock three times and then leaned against the wall. He clenched his fists at his sides, his eyes and mouth squeezed shut. He braced himself for the worst.
With a crash and a bang, Grian landed. He opened his eyes, unaware if it was successful. He saw grass outside of the door's tiny windows. "Well this certainly isn't my lab!" he stated to the air. He pressed the button and opened the iron door. "I think I know where I am!" He stepped out of the machine and heard a sizzle. "Ouch!" the man recoiled. "Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!" He held his foot, which he had burnt through the shoe and sock, though still intact. He looked down to some black rocks surrounding the ship. Within the cracks was flowing magma. "Must've been a harsh landing." he mumbled as he observed the land he'd just stepped on. He pulled out his notebook and pen and scribbled down a note. "Softer landing. Down rocket power." he announced quietly to himself as he wrote the words he was saying. He slid the paper and pen back into his pocket and redirected his attention to the scenery. "Yes, this must be Hermitville!" He walked towards the village and looked at the buildings "This must've been before the build off! No white flag, no wizard plant..." he glanced to Iskall's house. "...no dabbing penguin." He laughed at the memory. As he looked over the town again, Stress walked out of the Nether portal.
"Hi Grian!" She waved at him.
He spun around and faced her. "Oh, hi Stress!"
She raised a brow at the weird, white thing sitting behind him. "What's that?" She pointed.
He looked back at it and his eyes widened.
"W-What do you mean?" he stuttered, acting oblivious.
"...The big white thing behind you."
"Oh, that? It-it's nothing, really." He sounded like Impulse when Grian asked him to test the time machine just a few minutes ago. Or is it days in the future? Stress could tell Grian was hiding something, but decided it was none of her concern. She shrugged and walked off and Grian wiped his forehead with his fingertips, relieved she had stopped the questioning. He was scared of single-handedly destroying the time-space continium by telling her the truth. "Well, I'd best get back." Grian said to himself. He walked back to the machine, being cautious around the burning rock. He returned to his creation and powered it. "Take me back home!" He yelled to the air as everything went white.
Though, instead of home, the machine took him somewhere else. He was in the correct era, but his machine had crashed into Doc's garden. Doc rushed out of his house after hearing the noise. He saw the white machine stuck in the ground and gasped. "Hello? Who's there?" Grian stumbled out of the machine, phazed from transporting through time and space so quickly. "Grian?" Doc yelled. Grian snapped out of his faze and turned around to see an angry Doc. With no time to think, he booked it to the woods.
