Lola had woken up to cook. Mrs Jolaoluwa had cooked breakfast the other day and Helen the day before.  So she woke up a little bit earlier and she went to the kitchen to cook.

She was almost done when she felt a presence in the kitchen. And she turned around to face Demilade who was leaning on the doorpost staring at her.

She was just seeing him for the first time since she woke up. He had already left the bed when she woke up. And she didn't see him in the living room when she entered the room. Then she said a greeting.

"Good morning." She greeted.

"Morning." He replied. "You are up early today." He said with a small smile playing on his lips.

She nodded. "I guess so. How was your business trip?" She asked.

He stood erect and answered. "Okay. Gratefully, it went well." And he walked into the kitchen. She nodded and she went to turn off the electric cooker with a pot on it.

"Do you want coffee?"

"No. No caffeine for now. Tea will do."

"Alright. Let me help you with it."

"Don't worry, I will do it." He refused.

"It's fine. I'm done with cooking. I'm just waiting for the sausage rolls to bake."

"Okay if you say so." He agreed with a nod. She went over to fill the electric kettle with water and she plug it into the wall socket. She left it to take the milk tin and chocolate tin from the fridge. "I'm sorry, I didn't give you much notice the day I left for work."

"It's alright. It's your work and I understand whatever you went to do was very important." She said taking a large mug that she had noticed he usually uses in the morning to drink tea.

The water was already boiling, so she went over to turn the switch of the wall socket off and she poured the hot water into the mug that already had some quantity of chocolate and milk powder in it.

Demilade just sat staring at her.

"Do you want sugar?"

"Honey please." She nodded and she went over to the fridge. "I don't think there is still honey."

"Oh! Okay, I will have a little sugar in it."

"Do you perhaps want to eat breakfast this morning? Because of the jetlag or so..." Lola asked as she stirred the tea.

"No, I'm good."

"I made fried potatoes and tomato sauce. There are also potatoes and beans if you want. You should give it a try."

"That's tempting." He admitted and she smiled.

"Seriously, it will be nice. Breakfast is one of the most important foods of the day. You can start changing your habit now. You will eventually get over the old habit." She convinced him.

He bit his lower lips and stared at her.

"You are convincing and tempting." He mentioned. She shrugged innocently. "Maybe next time." She arched a brow.

"Really? I'm not a kid Demilade. I'm sure that next time is never." She said then she gave him the tea mug. He took it from her with a smirk. "Why don't we start today? I don't mind... If it is just three or five spoons you are going to take. You can change your habit. You can start now. It won't be so bad."

"Fine. If you want that, I will try it."

"Is that a promise?" She asked with a pout.

He chuckled. "Yeah. It's a promise. I will but not today."

"Alright. But remember, a promise is a debt."

"Fine." And he climbed down the kitchen island while Lola went to check the sausage in the oven. She turned off the oven and opened it bringing out the tray containing the sausage rolls.

"Be careful with that," Demilade said with concern seeing the hot smoke emitting from the tray and its contents in her hand. She nodded and place it on the only wire rack in the kitchen for it to cool.

When she take off the glove in her hand, Demilade said.

"Is the offer to go out still on?" The cheerful voice he had been using was gone. There was a bit of hopefulness in his voice.

"I guess so." She said. He looked like he expected more answers. "Yes."

He exhaled with relief. He had thought she might still be angry and won't want to go out anymore.

He gave a small smile. "Okay then. After breakfast."

"After breakfast?"

"Yes. Do you have plans for after breakfast?"

She looked like she was thinking about it before she answered. "No."

"After breakfast then," Demilade said finally and he was about to turn to leave when Helen entered the kitchen yawning.

"Good morning." She greeted yawning.

"Good morning."

"Morning." Lola and Demilade chorused. And that was when Helen realized that it wasn't only Lola that was in the kitchen.

"Oh, bro Demmy. I didn't know you were here. When did you even get back? I thought they said you were travelling."

"Well, I did but I was back yesterday evening."

"That must be before we get back."

"Yes."

"That's good." She looked at Lola's directions. She gave Lola a knowing glance that made Lola shake her head at her. "So how was the trip?"

"It went well. How was your night?"

"It was fine. Thank you." She smiled and stepped into the kitchen fully. She sniffed. "I can smell something nice. It's so mouthwatering. Wow! You made the sausage roll." She squealed.

Demilade shake her head at her drama and he turned to leave.

"Demmy, won't you have a sausage roll with your tea?" Helen asked. "You should at least have this if you are not going to take breakfast."

"Okay."

"Lola, please hand me a plate." And Lola picked a small plate and gave it to Helen. She uses a fork to pick some into the plate and she hands it to Demilade with a cut-out piece of a paper kitchen towel.

"Thank you." He appreciated taking it from her.

"You are welcome." She answered with a broad smile.

"I will be in the library." He told Lola who nodded and they watched him leave.

"Bayo didn't tell me he was back," Helen said immediately Demilade was out of sight.

"I guess he wants to make it a surprise for me and he probably forgets to tell you," Lola answered as she placed the dishes to be used for serving on the kitchen island.

"Maybe." She said thoughtfully. "So... Is there anything...."

Lola chuckled. "Yes." She shakes her head. "We are still going out. After breakfast."

"That's good. At least you will go and explore with your boyfriend. Enjoy your day my dear." Helen advised.

"I will. Thanks." She appreciated it with a grin.

Sorry for the late update guys. Please forgive me. I planned on updating since my request was met in the last chapters but I have been so busy with my project and teaching practice. So I apologize for the late update.

I might update another chapter later today.

Demilade and Lola will be going on their date or day out in the next chapter.
