"Well, he is okay with it. Although he is still a little insecure. But I guess it is because he can't still get used to seeing his daughter with a man." And they both chuckle.
Mrs. Grace nodded with a smile. "You are right about that. I can still remember what my father did to my late husband when we were dating." She chuckles. "It took a year before my Dare could come to see my father. Fathers are always protective of their daughters. I'm glad you have your father."
"Me too." She smiled.
He might not give her everything she ever needs. But he did and tried his best. He made sure they had something to eat, something to wear. He put their needs before his. And he always put a smile on his face and encourage her and her siblings even in times of difficulty. He taught her to smile and be grateful in whatever situation she might find herself in life.
"Lola, is there any problem between you and Demilade?" The woman suddenly asked after the short silence.
Lola bit her lower lip nervously. She hoped the woman had not noticed the loops between her and Demilade. She sure was wise and noticed things.
"There is..."
"You don't have to lie to me, Lola. I'm old but that doesn't mean that I am blind. I was once in both your age. I have been in relationships. Unlike my daughter, I dated a few numbers of men before I met the father of my daughter. I have seen things and I know things. You don't have to lie to me. There seems to be a wall between the two of you."
"We are just having a few problems but we will settle it ma." She lied and she hoped the woman believed her. She wasn't expecting the question and Demilade who was an expert in finding crazy answers wasn't there to answer the questions.
"Is Demilade the problem?"
"No, he isn't only the problem." She answered. "I... I also have a hand in it. But we are okay. But we will settle it. Everything is going well."
"I hope so. I really like the two of you together."
Lola looked at the woman. It was good to hear that from her but if she had known it was just all a lie. She thought sadly.
"Just be patient with him. You are both adult and I am sure you can solve your problems like an adult. And also, I'm sure Demilade is older than you. Give him the respect he ought to have, no matter what is going on between you two and he will respect you too." The old woman advised her as a mother would.
"Alright, ma. Thank you for the advice ma." She appreciated it sincerely.
"You are welcome." She smiled down at her.
"Ma..."
"Yes."
"Is everything thing okay with Mommy? She isn't in her usual chatty self." She asked with concern. She can't help it. She had noticed the woman's behaviour since they arrived at the beach house.
Something was different about her. And it's like something was wrong with her.
"It's nothing serious. She is fine. Thanks for the concern."
"It is nothing ma."
She nodded. "Don't worry okay? She is fine."
"Alright, ma."
"Thank God." Helen exclaimed and they turned in her direction. "we are home." And she carried her baby from the baby bed on the floor of the boat.
"I will go and call Jola." Mrs Grace said and Lola nodded. She watched the woman walk away.
The boat finally stopped some distance from the shore and they began to climb down.

Bayo was busy on his laptop when they entered the beach house. He was immense in the conversation on the phone while staring at something on his laptop, that he didn't know when they came in.
Helen went over to his side and she slumped beside her husband
He looked at her and their daughter. The girl opens her hands wide for her father to carry her. He grinned and he ended the call taking the little girl from her mother's arm.
Then he kissed his wife softly on the lips.
"How was your outing with Lola?" He asked.
"It was great."
"That's nice to know. Where is Lola?" He asked.
"I'm here." She answered as she dropped Mrs. Jolaoluwa's small handbag on one of the sofas. "Hi."
He smiled back and replied. "Hi." He had a mischievous glint in his eyes that she couldn't pinpoint but she chose to ignore it.
"Please help me give it to mommy when she enters inside. I need to go and shower and take a rest." She said to the couple. Helen and her husband nodded and she went in the direction of her room with Demilade.
She entered the room and was about to take off her blouse when she noticed someone on the bed.
She moved closer to the bed and there he was lying peacefully and snoring quietly.
She chuckles in amusement. She was bemused. She couldn't believe he was there. He had texted her last night with an international number saying he had arrived in Dubai. It was such a relief that he landed safely but the question was how was he back in Nigeria to the beach house in less than twenty-four hours. She knew that it takes eight hours to get back to Nigeria. Had he spent only an hour and a half to do what he went to do in Dubai?
All the questions kept popping into her head as she watched him sleep peacefully. She could tell he was tired.
She found a small smile spreading on her face just from watching him. She realized she was so happy to see him. Just two days and she had missed him.
She left him to sleep and she went to go about what she had planned on doing.
Two hours later, she left the room where she had sat reading to prepare dinner. She met Bayo in the kitchen taking something from the fridge.
"You didn't tell me that your friend was back." She scolded him with a pout.
He just smiled at her. "I wanted it to be a surprise to you." Lola just rolled her eyes at him but she smiled back.
"Well, it was a nice surprise."
"I know it will be." He said confidently. "He is still sleeping?" He asked.
"Yes. I think he is very tired."
"I guess so. He hardly said much before he went to take his bath and went to sleep. The jetlag might also be affecting him."
"I think so." She agreed.
"I will leave you with your cooking. Helen will join you soon." She nodded in reply and she watched him walk out of the kitchen with a can of monster in his hand.
