"Johanna!" I hear my sister call from downstairs. "Will you come do my hair!"
Camilla was always awake before everyone else. She was four years younger than me, but sometimes it was easy for her to be in total control of me.
I sat up and walked downstairs. I came in to find Camilla in a bright green dress. It went down to below her knee caps and it flowed with every step she took. She was absolutely breathtaking. The way that the emerald straps sat on her shoulder made her look like a princess.
"Oh, Cami! You look gorgeous!"
"Thanks, you could use some work." she replied.
"Hey! Give me a break I just woke up!"
I'd say that me and Camilla were really close. She was definitely one of the people that I was closest to. Even though we are sisters, we look nothing alike. She has dirty blonde hair that lands just below her shoulder, and mine is a really dark brown.
"Joey will you do my hair like you did last year, with the two dutch braids?"
"Sure Cami" I started to brush out her hair and she did nothing but complain.
"Ow, Joey, stop your pulling to hard!"
My mom walked into the kitchen, "Johanna, take it easy on your sister please."
"She just whining, she's fine. Trust me mom."
She walked over to the stove and started grilling us up some of the left over food that we got yesterday. We aren't exactly rich, but we get by.
I sectioned off Camilla's hair and began to braid it into two separate braids. I grabbed an elastic and tied it up as I reached the end. It was a little bit messy, but I never liked them super neat anyways.
"Alright, your all done Cami! I need to go get ready for the day. Mom, have you set out an outfit for me?"
"Yeah, I think I set it on the sofa in the living room."
"Okay, thanks" I said as I wandered into the living room.
On the couch I found a gorgeous dress. It had a white sleeveless top and a beautiful light purple skirt that were attached by a sequined belt. I had never been able to wear anything near as gorgeous as this. We could never afford anything close to it. Surely this would cost us a meal or two.
I ran upstairs to my room to go change. I slipped off my old t-shirt and jeans, which was what we slept in, and I pulled the dress over my head and looked in the mirror. Sure, my hair was still a huge mess, but I looked beautiful. I had never been this confident about myself before, but this dress felt like heaven.
I slipped on a pair of black flats and went to the bathroom to do my hair. I pulled it back into a simple braid on the back of my neck. It was very messy, but I liked it like that. It wasn't like the people in town were going to judge me after they see the dress I'm wearing.
I was about to head back downstairs when I realized Andrew still wasn't awake. I walked over to his room and knocked on the door. No one answered.
"Andrew, get your lazy ass out of bed!" I yelled through the door. Still no one responded. I opened the door and there he was, just sleeping in his bed.
I shook him as hard as I could and he rolled over.
"What? What do you need Johanna?"
"You have to get up!"
"Why? It's way to early."
"You need to get ready for the reaping!"
You could obviously tell that he forgot because his voice changed into a sad tone instead of the playful one he was using before.
