The begining

The sun woke me from my slumber. I opened my eye slowly to let them adjust to the brightness of the sun. I stood up to stretch, watching everyone outside being active, finding food, or gently grooming each other. Eventually my stomach urged me to search for food, I walked to the entrance of my hollow checking my surroundings. After I made sure everything was clear and safe, I jumped out, into the open air, letting my wings unfold to catch me in the wind, soaring though the sky, I searched for the perfect fruit tree. After searching for a bit I finally found one, making a perfect landing on it's many branches, next to me was a clump of berries. One by one I picked and tossed berries in the search for the perfect one, then I found it, I picked off the perfect berry and placed it in my claws, while my other foot perfectly balanced my weight. I teared into the berry, savoring the juicy flavor. I continued eating the perfect berries until I was full, my beak was all red from the berries, I wiped it against the bark of the fruit tree to clean it off. Now full, I began to preen myself, taking each and every one of my feathers through my beak, spreading my oil glands to my brightly colored feathers. The purpose of this it to not only cleanse myself, but to also make my
feathers somewhat water resistant. After awhile, another bird landed next to me, it was one of my flock mates, and my best friend, Comet. Comet and I basically grew up together, we learnt to fly together, fed together, and played together. I stopped my preening to greet my good friend with a short preen on the head, "hey Comet, how are you this lovely morning" Comet returned my greeting by also preening my head for a short second, "I'm enjoying the sun and these delicious berries, they are plentiful here" I agreed with her, there was a lot of berries to support my flock, we had to move multiple time, due to the monsters that come and destroy our homes, my flock was cut in half from the tragedy, many of us were lucky to survive. "Yeah though I do miss our old home, and mother, that was the last place I saw her" I looked away as I felt the sadness come, I lost my mother that day, and my father hasn't been the same since, he never joins preening sessions anymore and is always cooped up in his hollow, I alway brought him some berries, because he doesn't feed himself anymore. Comet moved closer to me, and wrapped her wing around me for comfort, " I know, Sunny, we all miss her, but I'm sure she is always watching" her word comfort me, and I brighten up again, "hey we should go bathe in the pond before the other get there" we like to bathe without the other birds, or rather, the bully gang of the flock, they enjoy picking on others especially Comet and I. We took off into the sky, I admired our surroundings, we live in the great big rainforest know as the amazons. The amazons is a beautiful place but it's also very dangerous, especially for little sun conures such as myself. Be sun conures, we are a bright yellow and orange and a little bit of green on our wings, followed by blue on the tips of our wings and tail. Don't get me wrong our colors are bright and can be noticed easily, but on a bright sunny day, our color blend with both the light and the trees, making it quite hard to spot us.
