Cassidy POV
Guess what?!
The day finally came to an end. I race to my front door and unlocked it. Before going inside I look back and wave goodbye to Lyssa and Bryson.
The house is quiet once I slip inside. Dad doesn’t come home till seven. I make my way to my room where a load of homework awaits me.
I am sat at my desk thinking about a strategy in mind. I decide to start off with the difficult subjects first like History and Business.
I work like this until five- ó- clock.
🦋A man and what I assume is his daughter struggle to get by the knee length grass. The little girl’s foot gets tangled in the grass making her lose her balance. She hits the ground the pain is visible on her face as tears start to well up in her eyes. A laugh escapes the man. Unintentionally she joins in the laughter and forgets about the pain. He lifts his daughter up from the ground. She looked so cosy in his arms. He placed her on his shoulders and continued to struggle to get pass the wild grass.
“They coming!"
An old man approaches with a boy a little bit older than the girl from before following right behind him. “The Cavern is in danger ,Sir,” the man says taking in short breaths.
“Evacuation?”
“Yes, sir and the warlock’s are all prepared for battle,” the older man responds. “I suppose its time then,” the man says. His grip on his daughter tightens.
The scene changes.
It appears to be a wooden cabin house.
“Has everyone been accounted for,” a man dressed in formal wear making him look like he belongs in the 18th century says. “Wait not everyone,” I hear the words of a young girl. The same girl I saw in the field. She looks different. Sure her light brown eyes are still wild but its a different wild. Its widened in fear. Her eyes closes for a brief moment. She’s waiting for someone to tell her something anything to chase the doubts in her mind away. As she opens her eyes I see the last light of hope die within her clearly understanding what the silence means.
Everyone’s eyes are now on her. Then I see the boy from the field(who was with the older man) appear next to the girl. He takes her hand in his and pulls her towards his chest.
The scene changes again.
This time we are in a room lit up by lanterns yet the room feels cold. There is a man standing in front of the girl who looks about my age. I look closer at her appearance. I feel like I know her from somewhere. I cant hear what the man is saying but the girls cheeks are damp.
I hear a whimper escape the boys lips whose presence I didn’t notice before. They both look in pain vanished from this world. I haven’t notice the man leaving the room as the boy wrap his arms around the girl, telling her its going to be okay.
I hear him say her name but I cant get a solid grip, it fades. Its familiar and on the top of my tongue too.🦋
“Cass?”
I open my eyes to meet my dads light brown ones.
I check the clock on the wall
'8 ó clock'
I Jump up out of my bed. I cant even remember going to bed. I haven’t even noticed that I have fallen asleep. “I’m so sorry Dad. I know tonight was my night-"
“Cass its okay. I woke you up so that you could eat something,” he smiles. I follow him downstairs and my eyes glowed to the beauty that was waiting for me on the kitchen table.
🎵Sugar pie honey bunch.🎵
🎵You know that I love you.🎵
I start singing as I opened up the pizza box and my dad burst out in laughter at my choice of song. Did I mention how much I love pizza. “I thought it would be a good idea to take a break from Miss Carson’s cooking for one night,” he says placing two plates on the table. He then opens the fridge and takes out the orange juice place it on the kitchen table along with two glasses.
Miss Carson always makes us supper. She is our neighbour and also my non biological grandmother. She takes good care of us and refuses to let my dad cook. Technically I agree my dad isn’t quite the best cook.
“Hey ,Miss Carson’s cooking is the best, however...
🎵I cant help myself I love you and nobody else🎵,” I burst into song as I sniff the delicious aroma of such delicacy.
Carefully I dish both my dad and I a slice .
We eat in comfortable silence. I feel so relax. I even went to bed early. I retired to the safest place in the world, my dreams.
Lost away in slumber until...
*Alarm noise*
