"Whats your name?" I whisper seductively in his ear. He looked young but, hey. He was tall, taller than me by about 6 inches. I pull him into the dance floor and put his arms on my hips, turning away from him. Hes been glancing my way all night. I figured he was just shy. Now he seemed stiff and uncomfortable and I wondered why. Usually most guys would be falling at my feet. Needless to say they were drunk and in their 30s. Why was he making this so hard? I really didnt want to work tonight. But then I remember that im late on my rent and need the extra money. I have tears in my eyes when he suddenly turns me around. "What are you doing?" He asks.
"Dancing" I wink.
"Whats your name?" He asks me.
I stare at him, shocked. None of my clients have ever asked me my name. If they did id tell them somthing kinky like Yasmin.. Usually they call me something like "hot stuff", "baby" I cringe.
I decide that hes not like that. He doesn't seem in a rush to have me take his pants down eaither.
"Jade" I tell him. He smiles
"Im Shawn"

I stop dead in my tracks. Am I hearing things again? My hands start shaking. I force myself to turn around. His eye brows are creased and he's squinting at me. They relax as he takes in my features.
"Shawn?"
"I could have sworn that was you" he says walking towards me stopping short about a foot away. I can see the scar he has on his left check and the freckles on his chin and forehead.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"Business." He answers "What are you doing here?" He asks.
"I live here" I say.
He expression becomes serious.
"I...I called you..." he lets the words hang there.
"I- I was" I choke up. His gaze shifts to something behind me. April. My mind flashes back to the coffee shop. Is he going to leave? I look between him and April, spitting images of each other. I become overwhelmed and dont know what else to do.
"I have to get going" I stutter. I pick her up and begin to walk away.
"Wait, Jade" he says. I look over my sholder.
"Who's this?" He asks.
"Er..my daughter."
I cant tell you what hes thinking. Something between shock and confusion.
"My boss is waiting I have to get this coffe to her" I say.
A man walks into the alleyway.
"Shawn." He calls. "We've been looking for you. Theres paparazzi everywhere, you're gonna be late if we dont leave now" he says.
Im assuming its his maneger or his publisher. Im glad he got rid of Harrison, he was such a d-bag.
"Okay Ill be right there.
"Jay, Can we talk? Please." He persists using my nickname.
It's surreal hearing it again. Nobody ever calls me that. He pulls out a peice of paper and a pen. Scribbling on it. And hands it to me.
He raises his eyebrows at me expectantly and I know what hes thinking. It makes my heart sink.
I pull out my wallet and hand him my business card. He gives me a small smile and is rushed away.
I can barely think straight as I drive back to work.
"Mommy who was that?" I contemplate an answer.
"That was your daddy"
