The buzz of mixed conversations and hum of light music fills the ballroom. Everyone has come together in the midst of this gloomy weather to be here tonight- the retirement of Alpha Kannan- the longest serving Alpha, arguably the wisest and longest in his position with the pack of Star Moon.

Star Moon is known for its longevity in its Alpha line, mostly due to their peaceful and prosperous ways. It has been centuries since they have gone to war, even as an ally in stance with other packs. They prefer to keep to themselves on the coastline boarders and offer guidance for all. Whether it be the smartest method... that contradictory. But only the cruelest have issues with Star Moon. Even those with dark greedy nature to overcome several territories often leave out Star Moon or just don't have the energy to bother. In return they would only be getting an ear full of right vs wrong and the sinful injustice they cause in regards to the Moon Goddess who overlooks us all as werewolves. Alpha Kannan has offered many alliances in the past with my pack and settled scores of hungry when crops were not sustainable. HIs elegance, grace and old beauty carry him and those of his pack far.

"Scarlett..." Ben, the Beta of Alpha Ryan from Blood Moon begins.

"Alpha." I correct him with a sly smile. Stupid Beta forgetting his place.

"Alpha" he fixes, "Alpha Ryan would like a word with you. I believe he's over at his table, wishes for you to join him"

I glance forward past the crowd to the round table in the corner of the room. It's illuminated with string lights and sheer drapes of pink and greys that droop over the table, hanging from the upper floor and balcony above. There in the centre of attention is Alpha Ryan, drinking his booze and surrounded by frolicking ladies practically tripping over themselves to touch him or have a hand on his shoulder. They're all fake laughing at his jokes and batting their eyelashes.

"Pathetic" I whisper to myself as he sits there keeping eye contact with me from across the floor.

"Pardon?" his Beta Ben asks confused. Something about him too is slimy. I get an eery feeling when he's around, similar to some peeping tom or annoyance.

I look down at him with dread and purposely respond, "Thank you for notifying me Gamma Ben".

His face scrunches up in disapproval and he open his mouth to correct me but I'm already walking away and he's left to talk to the echoing of my heels.

Ryan doesn't break eye contact once as I make my way over, being sure to sway my hips extra and keep my posture high. I flash a big fake smile, all teeth and some of the girls are already scurry away.

He throws his hands up wide, "There's the emerald beauty!" he exclaims.

I'm unsure if he's referencing the slim, long, emerald green dress I've chosen to wear tonight or the pricing colour of my eyes. I don't waiver my eye level as I rest a palm on his table across from him. "You wanted to speak with me?" I ask dully. He leans in resting his elbows on his knees. He sports a bright sky blue suit and white dress shirt beneath it, the top two buttons undone for look or from some pouncing chick in the back bathroom, I can't tell. It suits his baby blonde hair and ocean blue eyes but isn't a very attractive colour to be wearing.

"I was curious to know when you'd let me take you on a date?"

As charming as he tries to be, I see through his bullshit. "I'm no idiot Ryan. I'm not giving you my pack, and I am not mating you either" I state.

Visibly he keeps his cool. Internally I can see him squirming from my answer- not the one he wanted. He takes a swig of his champagne all in one go before slamming it down harder than necessary on the table. Cocking his head tot he side with a sly smile he stands up and makes his way over to me.
