Courtney's POV

"Wait, wait, wait, wait... You mean to tell me you went as a shower?" I asked with a laugh.

He grinned. "Yeah. I didn't really wanna be seen so Mr. Miyagi helped me make a costume and we went with a shower."

I laughed. "I wish I was there to see that. Hey, how did you meet Mr. Miyagi anyway?" I asked.

"Oh, uh- he works here. He's the maintenance man."

"Oh. So when you got your ass kicked, he helped you?"

"I didn't get my ass kicked." He said with a grin.

"Your face says otherwise." I said with a grin.

"Well, one more month until the tournament. Then I can go back to getting my ass kicked again."

I laughed. "Do you think you'll win?" I asked.

"It's gonna take a miracle to beat Johnny Lawrence, let alone win."

"Don't talk like that. I can tell you all their tricks."

"No shit. I forgot you were in Cobra Kai. Name some!" He said.

"This won't help you in the tournament but the only thing they're good at is karate. So if you need to beat them in something else, your chances are high. They won't know what to do . And here's another fun fact. Tommy, Dutch, and Johnny are all left handed. So remember that. I've seen it mix people up. You go for the weaker side but it happens to be their stronger side."

"Wow, thanks. I'll keep that in mind."

"I'll let you know if I think of anything else." I said with a grin.

The TV was playing in the back while I was under a blanket. I wasn't sure what was playing but it got awkward pretty quickly. "Awkward silence..." I mumbled.

We both laughed. "At least the silence broke."

"It's getting late. Your mom was right. We do have school tomorrow. So..."

"Yeah, we should probably go to bed." He mumbled.

We looked at each other at the same time and the tension between us was inevitable. We both hesitated but got closer and closer until he was about to kiss me.

But I couldn't...

I leaned back. "Wait... no. I-I'm sorry. I can't."

"I- yeah. Sorry." He said quickly.

"It's not you. I just don't really do this. It's not something I'd do. It doesn't make sense but I don't want something like this. It just-"

He cut me off. "No. It's fine. I get it." He mumbled.

I threw the blanket off of me. "Well, good night. I'll see ya in the morning." I said with a small smile.

"Good night." He said.

I walked into the bedroom and set the alarm clock on the table for 6:00. I had clothes at school so I didn't have to run back to my house in the morning before school.

I felt bad about tonight. I didn't know how to say it but I don't want to just have fun with a guy. As I've said before, I don't date for fun. I want to date a guy who actually might want a relationship. And I don't know if Daniel is about hooking up or might actually have feelings for a girl.

Things were awkward sitting on the couch watching a movie. It's gonna be even worse now.

Daniel's POV

After Courtney went to bed, I was gonna shower but I really just wanted this night to be over with. I was embarrassed enough as it is.

Why did I do that? But what really confused me was that she doesn't date and she wants a real relationship. I mean, that's fine but it just doesn't seem like her. I guess I don't know her that well.

It can't be just me who thinks this, right?

Courtney's POV

The alarm beeped and I turned over on the bed and turned it off. It pained me to wake up because I was actually sleeping in a bed. I haven't slept in an actual bed since God knows how long.

I brushed through my hair with the brush on the nightstand and I walked into the living room. Daniel was already awake and in the kitchen looking for something to eat.

"Hey, do you have a toothbrush I could use?"

"Yeah. There are a bunch under the sink." He said pointing to the bathroom.

"Thanks." I said.

"If you want, we can go get breakfast before school. We could leave a bit early. Unless you just want to eat here. But I don't know how to cook anything..."

I laughed. "We can stop somewhere on the way to school." I said. "We don't need to burn the kitchen down while your mom's gone, 'cause I can't cook either."

He grinned. I went into the bathroom and got a toothbrush from under the sink. I used the toothpase on top and was pretty much ready except for the fact I needed to change my clothes when I got to school.

"Do you need something to wear?" Daniel asked.

"It's ok. I have a bunch of extra outfits at school I could wear."

"Alright. You ready to go then?"

I nodded. "Let's go."

We both walked to the McDonalds down the road. It was on our way to school so it wasn't too much of a hassle. We both just got a breakfast sandwich and we ate while we walked.

"I guess we're kinda early. You wanna stop at the park or something?" I asked.

"Yeah, sure. They probably won't even let us in the building yet." Daniel said.

We both laughed. There was a park right before we got to the school. We could still see it from the park so when people started trailing in, we figured we'd just head over.

"Look about yesterday," I started.

"It's fine. We can just pretend it never happened."

"I just feel like I owe you an explanation." I said awkwardly. He didn't say anything. He sat down on the bench and I sat next to him. "So I dated the biggest asshole of all time thinking he was going to be the love of my life." I laughed at those words.

"Who?"

"Johnny Lawrence..." I mumbled. "We're neighbors and we have this tree in between our windows that we built a tree house in when we were younger and there's a ladder on the tree which is how I sneak into my bedroom. It's gonna fall soon which scares me but it's still standing as of now. So right after we took the wooden house out of the tree, we could see through each other's windows. I snuck in one night through the ladder on the tree and I looked over and there he was sleeping with this blonde. He noticed me and realized he forgot to close the blinds. I closed my window and my curtains even though he tried to apologize."

"I knew he was an asshole but that was low."

"I agree. But he always asked if we wanted to sleep together and that should have been red flag number one. I think I was just so desperate for it to work out that I refused to even look at the flaws."

"Dang, I'm sorry." He said.

"It's ok. I'm over it. Eventually him and his little hookup were together and then they broke up before summer started. But that girl... God, I hate her more than anything. I feel like she only does the things she does to piss me off."

He sighed. He looked like he wanted to say something but he didn't. "So there's my explanation. I didn't plan to date in high school but look how that turned out." I said with a small laugh.

"It's ok. I get it. We just met, anyway. I'm not usually like that either."

I feel like that was forced. He didn't really mean what he said. But I just wanted this conversation to be over so I left it at that.
