"Let's wait till the next fifteen years and I will love to hear what you want to say. Remember it was someone's daughter you dated and breaks her heart. A lot that I can't count."
"You don't have to remind me about that. Those were those childish moments. I thought I was having fun. When girls are tripping easily for us. And boys got to have fun."
"Yeah, just like another young guy will love to have fun," Demilade smirked. He loves teasing Bayo.
"You are actually crazy Demmy. Don't you know that it is your goddaughter we are talking about."
"Of course. And one more thing, let her know the truth early. That's all I will say to you."
"Sure. But don't worry, you will have your daughter someday and you will know how I am feeling. Then I will mock you." Bayo said and Demilade laughed.
"Until then." He took a large swallow of his drink before pouring himself another one.
"So Demmy. When will you get yourself a wife?" Bayo asked. He suddenly turned serious.
"I..." Demilade was about to say but was cut short by the ringtone of his phone. He groaned and he picked up the phone where he kept it beside him. He hissed when he saw the caller and he dropped the phone back on the sofa beside him.
Bayo looked at the phone and then at his friend. He could see the frustrated look on him.
"What's wrong? you are not answering the witch call." He had a tone of mockery in his voice. He just hates the spite of Mika. He had hated her since the day she left his friend to get married to a rich man. And the fact that she was back, is really pissing him off.
"She wants to hang out and I am not in the mood. I'm supposed to be at work now. Thanks to you, I'm here." Demilade demonstrated with his hands and a small smile tugged up Bayo's lips. He loves the fact that Demilade could do something with him that he won't tolerate with any other person.
"But she looks quite determined," Bayo said with a silly smile on his face as Demilade phone rings again.
"I told her yesterday we can't be more than friends. She wants us to be together. What does she take me for?" He asked rhetorically "I can't even stand her. Can you believe that?"
Bayo chuckles. "I'm so proud of you." That was all he said. Demilade looked at him and they both laughed.
"But to be serious Bayo, my spirit doesn't go with her again. I feel like there is this insincerity about her. And I hate lies."
"Are you sure she is okay with you just wanting to be friends and with what you are saying now, that offer of friendship is shaky."
"She was quite reluctant but she later called back to agree to it. Well, that's her problem. If she doesn't agree, I think we will go our separate ways. It has been that way for almost ten years now." Demilade said looking away as he press the power button of his phone to end the persistent incoming call.
They talked about other things for a while before Bayo asked.
"How is Lola? Helen called her about a week ago. She was quite offended that you didn't call her for more than a week before you left." Bayo stated.
Demilade didn't say anything. He just shrugged.
"So it's true."
"Are you trying to get words out of my mouth Bayo? Because I know Lola didn't tell you that she is offended."
"Well, she didn't say that out loud but I can tell."
"Really? You or Helen?"
He laughed. "Geez! You know me well."
