Chapter 18

Lily smiles as she kisses her temple, resting her hand right on Carina's back. "Close your eyes and relax and you'll be able to soon."

Carina sighs in defeat, doing exactly what Lily said. She rests the side of her head on Lily's chest and holds her closer to her like her own personal teddy bear.

"I hope you're right about this, Lily," she mumbles.

*9:04 A.M*

"Yeah, you were not right about that," Carina groans exasperatedly as she removes herself from Lily and sits upright in her own seat, crossing her arms across her chest as she pouts. Again. "I cannot do this for another 4-5 hours."

Lily just barely opens her eyes and glares at her girlfriend beside her. She was about 2 minutes from drifting off into a nice little snooze when Carina's warmth suddenly disappeared from off of her. "Hey," Lily whines, "you might not have been able to fall asleep but I was about to."

"Don't fall asleep!" Carina protests. "Who else am I going to talk to?"

Various mutters of "hey", "well alright then", and "screw you, too" all come from Desi, Naomi, and Amanda. Ouch.

Lily giggles when Carina's cheeks turn a light shade of pink. "Sorry, guys," she sheepishly apologizes. "Kind of forgot about you for a second."

There goes another round of "hey", "well alright then", and "screw you, too".

Carina is just digging herself in a deeper hole. Lily has to cup her hand over her mouth to prevent them from throwing Carina out in case it's three strikes and she's out. Literally.

"Desi, can we switch seats?" Naomi asks as she narrows her eyes at Carina. "I'm feeling like I'm a little unwanted back here."

Carina's jaw drops in horror before she practically throws herself onto Naomi, hugging her around her waist tightly. "No no no no no, Naomi! I love you I promise!"

Lily, Desi, and Amanda all laugh when Carina plants a big kiss on Naomi's cheek and she wipes it off in disgust. A happy and proud grin is plastered on Carina's face. "Ugh," Naomi groans, wiping her palm on her jeans. "What is up with all of you guys and feeling the need to forcibly kiss my face?"

"Face it, Naomi," Desi begins, turning around in her seat to look at her, "you're irresistible. None of us can help it."

Naomi rolls her eyes. "Can I go back to being ignored now?"

*10:37 A.M*

Desi is always in charge of anything that deals with music. Her music taste is bomb as hell and she always makes sure to tend to everyone's various preferences. She knows exactly what each of the girls would want to listen to and she makes sure to evenly distribute the different songs to accommodate everyone.

Now it's Bea Miller's "Force of Nature" that's playing, which practically any of the girls would appreciate. Carina, however, was definitely enjoying it the most. She was singing along quietly once the song started and as she got lost in be music, which Lily has noticed that she does a lot, her voice started getting louder to the point where it was almost drowning out the Bea's voice.

Lily found herself watching Carina fondly with an involuntary smile on her face. Listening to her sing and watching the passion on her face when she does is incredible. It's something she'll never get tired of.

Lily noticed Naomi and Desi watching her with expressions of awe on their faces. Carina was looking down at her phone while she was singing, so she didn't notice. It wasn't until the song ended that she brought her eyes back up and was a little taken back to see Desi and Naomi staring straight at her while Amanda was occasionally glancing through the rearview mirror. Lily knows that Amanda is very much aware of Carina's ability to sing, but even she's still surprised by it. And Lily can say the exact same thing.
