Working It Out

You and Athena had been working since around 8 am this morning and it was now around dinner time when you got your first break of the day. It was LA there was a lot of people doing crazy stuff but being on patrol with Athena your boyfriends wife was a little awkward. You and Buck were in the middle of the fight and you really didn't want to see him anytime soon. Athena pulled up outside the 118 and you sighed

"You have got to be joking me we're meant to be working" You complained

"What the hell is going on with you Y/N?"

"Evan and I are in the middle of a fight and I don't want to see him anytime soon"

"I don't care get your ass in there before I hall it in there" If you were being honest neither you or Buck could remember what the fight was about but neither of you would admit it. Following Athena's orders you climbed out the patrol car and walked inside the 118.

"Hey Athena, Y/N what are you doing here?" Bobby asked coming out from behind one of the trucks

"We're on our first break of the day and I figured that you lot will have food about" Athena answered as Eddie came up hugging you

"Hey Eddie" You smiled

"Buck is not in a good mood"

"Oh I wonder why" You answered sarcasticly

"What's going on between you two?" He asked taking your arm and leading you over to the side

"Look Eddie we got into a fight and I'm only here because Athena said if I didn't walk in by myself she would and I quote 'Hall my ass in here'"

"What was this argument about?" You shrugged sligtly

"You don't know" He explained raising his voice slightly

"Keep your voice down." You hushed him "Look it's not that I don't know it's just that I can't remember. I have a feeling it was about this promotion I'm getting"

"Y/N that's great" He pulled you into a hug before pulling away "But why were you fighting about that?"

"It's a detective promotion and it's more hours, more dangers but better cases"

"Y/N you need to go for it. We've been friends since we were kids and if Buck doesn't want you to go for it he's stupid. But please talk to him I want to see the both of you happy" You nodded pushing the hair out of your face

"Where is he?"

"Upstairs talking to Hen and Chimney"

"Thanks Eddie" You kissed his cheek walking upstairs and over to Buck, Hen and Chimney

"Hey Y/N looking good in that uniform" Chimney joked

"Aww thanks Chimney" You replied with a smile "Buck can I talk to you?" He nodded leading you over to the side.

"What's going on?"

"I want to forget about this fight Evan. I love you more than anything but this promotion is the best thing to happen to me all year apart from you. I don't want to lose you over this promotion but if I'm to pick between this promotion or you I'm sorry but I'm picking this promotion until you can accept it" You turned to walk off but he grabbed your wrist spinning you around

"Look Y/N I'm sorry I was being selfish I just don't want anything to happen to you. When you're riding with Athena I know you're gonna be safe becuase Athena's there but if you're a detective I don't know who I'll trust to keep you safe. You should go for the promotion you will regret it if you don't and I'll understand if you want to break up"

"Break up? What no. I don't ever want to break up with you Evan Buckley but you were making me choose I was gonna pick the promotion" Buck leaned in for a breath taking kiss that did take your breath away.
