Surprise!

By PJ Perry

I saw you for the first time the other day

It was in a coffee shop

There was a sparkle in your eye of play

You tickled a woman, her bag did drop

She squealed with delight

She knew it was you

Her eyes burned bright

They were really blue

She smacked your arm

You pretended it hurt

She loved that charm

You loved her flirt

It has just began

When you saw her there

My new game plan

Has become murder

Some will call it chance

Others name it fate

But its time to play the death dance

You are my perfect candidate

Well I had a few days now

To sort and organise

And this do avow

Will be your biggest surprise

You walk into the coffee shop

As I take another sip

You come to a sudden stop

And very nearly slip

She wasn't where you thought she'd be

On the far side of the room

You scan around you eyes catch me

I could taste impending doom

My heart began to flutter

In a state of ecstasy

You lips began to mutter

Wonder where she could be

Then a man walked in with a delivery

You turned as he called out your name

I can't wait for the discovery

I'm excitedly insane

A parcel and a letter

Was all it was you signed for

Things started to look better

Ripping the note from the envelope you tore

The sparkle in your eyes

Was the best I'd ever seen

It was the best surprise

For you so far that ever been

You announced to everyone

The contents of the note

You were the proudest one

And this was a brilliant quote

'We're going to have a baby!'

Cried the proudest man on earth

'Where is my special lady?'

'Here soon' I whispered with some mirth

I stole their post the other day

With the hospital results

In this game that I do play

I really do exult

He opened up the box next

It was full of polystyrene bits

He shoved his hand right in perplexed

I'm at the edge of my wits

You pull an object out

Packaging flies everywhere

People all around scream and shout

As you hold a head up by its hair

I take a picture on my mobile phone

It couldn't have been more perfect

It will be one I'll frame on its own

I think this one is worth it

My adrenalin now has kicked in

My rush is at its peak

I allow myself the slightest grin

As your legs start to go weak

I like to watch the face of one die

And I like to watch the look of the one left alive

I really don't know the reason why

But it's just what I need to thrive
