I Murdered Yesterday

By PJ Perry

I murdered yesterday

So that I could now move on

You told me not to feel that way

But you couldn't have been more wrong

Before I could not see that far

I was blinded by the fog

Like a room full of smoke from a bad cigar

I would need the best guide dog

But the mist from my eyes has steamed away

I realised what to do

I knew by murdering yesterday

That I would be free from you

So I will always look forward

And drink to you a little toast

That I'll never ever feel awkward

If I turn and see your ghost
