Chapter 13

There was a small sigh of relief from behind Shota as he slightly pulled you. He let you sit there for a moment, still asleep.

He turned to the villains behind him, a frown on his face. "Is [L/N] a villain?" Shota asked bluntly.

A short silence from the others, and then a definite answer from Ethan.

"No. They've done nothing wrong."

"What are they doing with you guys then?"

"We've been together since childhood," Shigaraki said quietly. He turned his back and waved his hand at Kurogiri. "It's best I keep them out of this from now on."

Kurogiri waited for Ethan before surrounding Shigaraki when he shook his head. The two disappeared, leaving just Ethan, Shota, and you, still unconscious.

Shota decided to let them go. He'll deal with them another time, when there are less of them and more backup heroes around.

"Why are you still here?" he asked Ethan. He started adjusting his capture weapon around his neck, trusting that the remaining villain was no threat.

"Katsumi must've been waiting for the doctor here to finalize the Nomu." Ethan nodded to you. "They wanted [Y/N]'s quirk to mutate it into the Nomu to make this 'ultimate Nomu' and defeat All Might."

Taking someone's quirk? Shota didn't like the idea of someone having that ability. "I won't be waiting for whoever this doctor is," Shota scoffed. "I have to take [L/N] back to their home. Or rather the police for interrogation."

"They've done nothing wrong," Ethan repeated. He looked down with his hands clenched. "And... I'll turn myself in."

Shota raised an eyebrow in surprise at him.

"I... I haven't done anything in the past few years, since I'm able to provide for myself with my job." His tail that was previously relaxed and straight when the villains were gone was now curled up tight again. "But I helped steal food and money for those other villains, plus the project we were working on to gather quirks. This was supposed to be the last project I worked on with them. I guess it's.... I've...." He started mumbling the rest, and Shota couldn't make out what he was saying.

Before he could reply to him, he heard you muttering unintelligible words under your breath and turned to you. Sweat was starting to form on your forehead and your eyebrows were furrowed, as if in concentration.

Shota quickly turned and shook you roughly, attempting to wake you. "[L/N]!"

"Stop that," Ethan called, snapping out of his own rambling. He gently pushed past Shota and knocked his hand away. "Startling them awake is way worse." The chameleon man instead gently rubbed your arm and said something softly to you. Shota vaguely caught him saying your name.

Shota remembered when he had tried to wake you roughly earlier and you had a panicked and frantic reaction. That was probably not a good idea, then.

"They probably drugged them or something," Shota commented. "Can you wake them under the effects?"

"It's most likely just sleeping pills. You can wake someone up fairly easily if they didn't have an overdose or anything."

A few moments later, your expression started to soften and calm. You moved slightly and you opened your eyes. Ethan still had a frown on his face, but his tail uncurled a bit.

You cursed under your breath, slowly getting up. Shota could hear a few joints cracking due to the way you were sleeping in that position for however long it was.
