"So how it feels like to be in your crush's house finally?" Catherine said and Naira immediately slapped her palm on her mouth and signaled her to be quiet
Catherine got rid of Naira's palm and poked her tongue out.
"YA, really mature" Naira said while rolling her eyes
"Don't talk about maturity, you were the one having the crush on Kartik, not me" Catherine said
"The keyword is was" Naira said while looking back in the kitchen and trying to keep an eye on Jack, in case he decides to come back early and abandons his food, which is rare.
"But.." Catherine was cut off by Naira
"But nothing cat, it was during the first year that too only for a week, when he started showing his real colors, I lost interest in him when he and his girlfriend started degrading every person who comes in their way, he was and he is a jerk" Naira lectured Catherine
"Then why are you helping him, why are we here?" Catherine questioned leaning back on the couch
Naira was silent, she never thought about it.
"I knew it, you still liked him" Catherine said while giving a victorious smile
"It's different now, we are here to solve a murder, and moreover I don't like him anymore, end of the story" Naira said
"Whatever helps you sleep at night" Catherine sighed
They heard some footsteps and saw Tristan and Kartik coming downstairs. Kartik walked towards the couch where Naira and Catherine were sitting.
"I'm really sorry, I should have not busted like that" Kartik said
"Like when you said that our parents and siblings are not real" Naira asked with a neutral tone
"I'm really sorry, after my parents went missing, I felt lost and when this topic was brought up once again, I lost it again and said the first thing that came to my mind" Kartik said
"hmm, ok" Naira said and walked to the kitchen where Jack was making something
"She'll come around, it's just that she loves her brother very much, she even cried for a whole day when his brother left for his college" Catherine tried to assure Kartik.
"I even have a elder sister, but we just used to fight everytime" Tristan said with a small smile on his face
"I know, after all my brother was dating her" Catherine stated while folding her hands near her chest and glaring at him.
Naira was helping Jack in the kitchen to make sandwiches but she was hearing everything, she was exhausted, it was a long day, first the fight in the school then the emotional outburst of Kartik and then this idiotic tension between Tristan and Catherine, she wondered how even Catherine told Tristan about this mystery message in the first place. Jack noticed Naira's behavior
"Is everything alright?" Jack asked
"Yes" she replied immediately and giving a fake smile
"ok" he said but kept a close eye on her.
They bought the sandwiches for everyone and at once everyone starts digging in. There was an awkward silence on the table.
"So what do we do now?" Catherine asked tired of the silence
"You can't keep quiet, can't you" Tristan said while rolling his eyes
"Did you just rolled your eyes at me" Catherine said angrily
"Yes I did, what will you do, call your brother" Tristan said in a mocking tone
Rest of the table was looking at them with amused faces, Naira was about to stop her friend but what she did next surprised Naira even.
Catherine picked up the ketchup bottle and squeezed the content on Tristan's shirt and some sauce even landed on his face.
"What the hell Catherine!!" He shouted with irritation
The others were trying to suppress their laugh, but Kartik can't control himself anymore while Naira tried to glare at him to silence him, but he was busy laughing
"You find it funny bro?" Tristan asked Kartik with a smirking face and picked up the mustard sauce bottle and squeezed on him, Kartik laughs were abruptly stopped
"You're so dead" Kartik said trying to grab Tristan but he ran and tried to hide behind Naira and Jack
"Naira get out of the way" Kartik said while aiming the sauce bottle
"Do you think I'm willingly standing between a food fight" as soon as these words slipped out of Naira's mouth a food fight started.
Some tomatoes were thrown here and there, lots was sauce was squeezed on each other, Jack went even further and smashed an egg on Tristan and Kartik, Catherine bought the flour from somewhere and dumped it on Naira, she was looking like a ghost, everyone was laughing so hard while looking at her, so she went and hugged Catherine
"Get away, get away" Catherine said trying to free herself, then Naira went and hugged Kartik
"What Naira nooo" he squealed like a girl
"That's for laughing at me" Naira said and Kartik looked at her, their faces were so close, they were lost in each other for a moment
"OH MY GOD!!" someone's voice came
They all stopped suddenly and looked at the person standing there
"Nestor" everyone spoke in union
"Sorry Sir, I just came to fetch something but I think it's good that I came" he sighed
They all looked at him with guilty eyes
"Oh ya that.." Kartik was at a loss of words
"C'mon everyone we should clean up while Nestor cleans here" Jack said and they all nodded and followed him upstairs
Tristan and Jack have their own rooms, Naira and Catherine were given a guest room each to clean themselves while Kartik went to his own room.

It was midnight, everyone was sleeping in their rooms exhausted from day events, but Naira was lurking in the corridor, she reached the basement's door and walked in, it was very dark there, she fumbled for light's switch in the dark and finally caught one and switched on the light.
"AHHHHH" she screamed and collapsed on the floor
