"Eh, we're a lot more accepting in my time and like a said, your part of a book and I was kind of already aware what you looked like." I replied casually. He just continued to stare at me as he backed away out of the kitchen. He returned a couple of seconds later with the mask covering up his deformity.
"I want to know about this book." He said, taking a seat next to me at the table.
"Well, it's set in your future." I said simply.
"And?" He prompted.
"And." I chose what I would say very carefully "it tells what you do in the future based on other's first hand accounts and letters and other stuff like that."
"What did I do?" He asked.
"I can't tell you that!" I said quickly, worrying what might happen if he actually revealed the future.
"Why not?" He demanded
"Because people in the past can't know their future." I responded.
"why ever not?"
"because then things get messy!" I yelled at him standing up.
"Your trying to protect me," I didn't reply, I just faced the other direction so that he couldn't guess anything from my face.
" Whatever I did wasn't good." I tried to stay silent in order to give nothing away, but in doing so, I just confirmed his thoughts.
"I knew it. I'm a monster. No matter how much I suppress it, it'll just come out." He said dryly.
"No your not!" I said fiercely as I turned back around to face him "you haven't done anything yet!"
"Well I guess that your book didn't include my rosy hours at Mazenderan." He said dryly.
"Well, not in detail." I replied truthful " but it is mentioned."
"I've killed Alina! And not just a few either! I tortured them to death in such awful ways your innocent little mind could never comprehend. Can you stand there now and tell me that I'm not a monster?" He yelled at me, now also standing up. I didn't say anything for a moment.
"Do you regret it?" I asked softly, breaking the silence.
"How could I not? After..." He trailed off, his eyes on the ground from shame.
"Then I believe your not a monster." I replied gently. "Killing is wrong but if your sorry for it, it shows that you have a heart. A human heart, not a monster's." He eyes made their way to mine and I could have mistaken an adoration in them, but I was sure he was close to tears.
"You are too good for this world Alina." I felt my checks blush when he said this.
"I'm not really." Quickly replied. I had never been good at receiving a complement. "I have my faults too."
