Valerie's POV

Once again, I had little to pack when I was leaving yet another place that just didn't feel like home.

I packed my small amount of belongings back into my bag slowly, thinking about the decision I made. Was it right for me? I had no bad answers to give myself, I had to decided to leave and that decision was final.

I wrote my Aunty a note explaining that I wasn't staying in her house anymore and why I was leaving. I thanked her for looking after me the past few months and ended it with an 'I love you' but never once in the letter did I say where I was going, although I did attempt to reassure her that I had a plan and that I would be alright, not that I did have a plan and who knows if I would be okay.

I placed the note on the bench and made my way out the door. By leaving at the time I did I knew that my Aunty wouldn't come home for at least 5 hours.

I walked for a little while, up and down the streets of the reasonably large town, searching for the nearest bus stop, maybe a plan would have been nice.

When I eventually found it I still had to wait for another 45 minutes to catch the bus. Other than a young man, there was no one else on the bus.

I waddled on, I tried to avoid hitting my bag on anything but without fail it smashed against every row of seats. I finally made my way down the back and slumped into the seat like the journey was a big effort.

I didn't know where I was going but I had a fair bit of many to take me pretty far.

I leaned up against the wall of the bus and fell into a light sleep but I was awoken by the sudden imbalance of the seat. I slightly opened my eyes to see the cause of the problem and it was the young man who had been alone on the bus until I got on. I slowly closed my eyes again, hoping he didn't notice me looking.

"Where you headed?" He asked and i inwardly groaned, so he did see me open my eyes before.

I just shrugged, not opening my eyes. I wasn't really in the mood to talk to anyone, maybe that would make him leave.

"I'm going to the airport." He continued, persistent bugger.

"Mmmmm..." I hummed.

"Are you running away?" He asked. Once again, I shrugged my shoulders. Was I running away? I guess so. I hadn't really thought of it that way.

"I am." He stated. "I'm Kai." I parted my eyes on the tiniest bit to see his outstretched hand. I hesitantly took it in my own and shook it as I muttered.

"I'm Valerie."

I didn't get back to sleep on the bus. Kai and I talked for hours, and we connected like I had only connected to a few others before.

As the bus drove, other people got on and got off again, no one stayed on for as long as us.

Kai and I talked about everything. We opened up to each other, told jokes and expressed our feelings about nearly everything.

When the bus stopped at one stop in particular Kai got up from his seat and announced, "Well, this is me."

"I'll come too." I stated quickly, without thinking. Kai smiled and helped me with my bags.

We got off the bus, thanking the bus driver as we left.

We walked into the airport and Kai began walking towards the check-in area of an airline I had never heard of before.

"Do you have a ticket to got somewhere, Valerie?" Kai asked.

I hesitated for a second before lying, "Yes."

"Well, come here then." Kai said and spread his arms out. I walked towards him and wrapped my own arms around his body.

"Thank you for making that bus trip bearable, Kai." I said sincerely.

"You're welcome," Kai replied. "And same to you."

Kai and I parted ways after our warm embrace. I went to an area around the corner where he wouldn't be able to see me anymore.

I had no where to go. I couldn't catch a plane, I didn't have enough money for that. I rummaged through my bag for my bus timetable. My finger scrolled down the bag to the last bus which would leave at 6 o'clock. My head flicked up to look at the clock on the wall, 6:30PM it read.

I sighed, the first bus in the morning didn't come until 5 so I guessed I was stuck there for the next eleven or so hours.
