Valerie's POV

"Flynn, it's me." I spoke the second Flynn said 'hello'.

"Oh, hey, Val." I could imagine Flynn smiling, well, I hoped he was smiling.

"This isn't a bad time, is it?" I asked, just to check.

"No, no. It's fine. What's happening?" My heart fluttered. Flynn was actually initiating a conversation with me.

"I have a plan." I state.

"Oh yeah, what's your plan, Commander?" Flynn asked, playing along with my mission-type tone.

"A date," I state before realising how it sounds. "For Cal... And Gary. What do you think?"

Flynn laughed at my proposition and agreed before adding his own twist into it. "We could say it's a date for us and I'll drag Gary along and say I have a blind date for him and you do the same with California." My heart stopped. He wants to go on a date with me. Even if it is fake, it's one step closer.

"Yeah," I managed to squeak out before regaining my composure. "That sounds good."

Flynn and I wrapped up our conversation quickly and hung up our phones. The date was organised for tonight.

"Cal! Cal!" I ran across the hall and banged on her bedroom door.

"What?" Cal groaned before swinging the door open, allowing me to see the resentful scowl on her face.

"I have a date," I state, "With Flynn." I finished. Her eyes widened and there was no hiding the grin that appeared on her face. "But it's a double date and you have to come and meet one of his friends."

The grin was gone but I eventually convinced Cal to agree.

"Fine." She said flatly. "When is it?"

"Tonight." I whispered realising I probably should have included that in the details I stated earlier.

"Tonight?!" She yelled. I just smiled sweetly and nodded slowly.

"Please, it would mean so much to me." I was practically begging now. If she didn't agree, we couldn't go ahead with the prank but more importantly, I wouldn't be able to spend more time with Flynn.

"Alright," Cal hesitantly agreed and it was nice for me to hear her fully cooperating when she knows the details, well, the details that won't ruin everything. "It's not like I'm doing anything anyway."

"Yeah, that's what I figured, since I'm your only friend and all." My comment received a slap on the shoulder and her attempt at swearing.

"You female dog." Bitch. The word is bitch, I thought to myself.

"Whatever," I retorted. "Hurry up, get dressed, we're leaving in half an hour." I walked out of the room and went back into my room and let a devious smile spread upon my face.

*

I dragged Cal from her room after 20 and we walked to the bus stop at the end of the street.

During the time I waited for Cal to get ready Flynn called me and we sorted out the details. Where to meet, what time, etc.

We jumped onto the bus, which was surprisingly empty for a Saturday evening, and rode it into town until we reached the bus stop around the block from the restaurant.

"Where are we going to?" Cal asked as we walked.

"Yum Yum India." I stated and I swear I saw Cal smile.

"Indian's good." Cal said quietly. I'm glad she likes it, after all, it is her date.

The second we walked into the restaurant my stomach grumbled at the delicious smell. Whoever decided to make this restaurant was a bloody genius.

"There they are." Cal said and pointed across the room. In one of the red booths was Flynn, facing towards us and Gary, facing away, so that his identity was still concealed. Well planned, Flynn, well planned, I thought. Neither of them would see the other coming.

"Hey, Flynn." I walked over to the booth and Flynn stood up to greet me. He wrapped his arms around me in a warm hug while Cal stood behind me waiting. Flynn gestured for me to take the seat opposite to where he had been sitting.

"Cal," Flynn started. "I believe you know Gary." I tried to hide the smile and giggle that was attempting to escape my lips.

"Yes. Hi, Gary." Cal smiled at him and then turned to me and narrowed her eyes.

"Hello, California." Gary said and his politeness nearly caused me to fall over. I had know his guy since the beginning of high school and he had always been a nice kid but never that polite.

Flynn pushed Cal's back gently and urged her to take the seat opposite Gary next to the window and then he slipped in behind her.

"So..." Cal started awkwardly and blushed when everyone suddenly turned to face her. "You guys are on a date." She finished.

"Actually," I said and caught Flynn eye. I began to step out of the booth and he did the same. "It's your date." Flynn and I broke into a sprint, away from the restaurant and down the street.

We both had to stop when we ran out of breath from the combination of laughing and running. "Wow." Flynn said whilst attempting to catch his breath. "That was fun. It's been a while since I've done anything that fun." I laughed and we walked back down the street.

"Yeah, I wonder what they will do?" That question of mine got me wondering - what are Flynn and I going to do now? We had never got that far into our planning. It surprised me when it seemed as though Flynn had the same thoughts as me.

"What should we do now?" Flynn asked.

"I don't know," I shrugged and we stop walking to contemplate that question. "What do you want to do?"

"Ummm..." Flynn said and put his fingers to his chin, making me giggle. "We could..." At first he looked like he was going to stop was he was saying but he regained his courage and finished his sentence. "We could go on our own date." My eyes widened in surprise and my heart fluttered with nerves and excitement.

I nodded and managed squeak out an 'okay'.
