Natsuru's Birthday
April 1st, 20XX

Natsuru felt...disappointed, to be frank. Today was his 13th birthday and seemingly every single one of his friends had forgotten it.

Don't get me wrong, he wasn't expecting them to throw a huge party or buy him a mountain of gifts. For him, all he needed was a casual "Happy Birthday" to make his day and so far he hadn't received one.

Although it's his own fault too, he had not brought up the fact that today was his birthday, nor did he wear a pin that acknowledged the day for all to know. But then again, the boy didn't think he needed to.

Even if he didn't say anything, he was certain at least one person would bring up what today was, but not even his brother, who usually stayed up until midnight in order to be the first to wish him a happy birthday, hadn't spoken a word to him today.

Naturally, that should have rung off some types of bells in Natsu's head but he brushed it off as Namiki's poor memory. Which was also dumb seeing the older boy can remember exactly what Nasturu ate two weeks ago on a Monday morning at 3 am. (That stalker.)

However, it seemed Natsu had spent too much time with a certain dark blue-haired dimwit he had also lost a few brain cells.

It was already the last period, and not even a teacher had wished the boy a happy birthday. So when the bell rang signaling the end of the school day, Natsuru couldn't help but sulk.

Grabbing his materials he was just about to walk out the door and head to practice when suddenly he was stopped by a random classmate. "Oh yeah, Natsuru I've been meaning to tell you all day, " Looking at the black-haired girl, Natsu felt his heart rate increase due to the amount of excitement he felt. Finally, someone remembered his birthday da- "Happy April Fools Day! We would've included you in some of the pranks but we felt you didn't celebrate such foolish days."

And just like that, at the fresh age of 13, Natsuru experienced his first heartbreak.

With a broken heart and a heavy spirit, Natsu slowly walked towards the gym. When he woke up, he had decided to at least run one lap before taking a nap today, but now he was too tired to even consider changing into his sportswear.

The brunette couldn't help but feel betrayed and bitter. He had remembered all his friends birthdays, even buying them candies and gifts that they would enjoy yet he couldn't even get a simple happy birthday wish!?

Huffing through his nose, he froze in his steps, glaring at the ground. At this point, the boy was cursing his family and friends.

If they couldn't even speak two simple words to him, then he'll just remember to do the same on their birthdays!

Reaching into his back pocket, the pouting boy opened his calendar before going to the tabs that held his 7 friends' birthdays and making a small note that read 'Don't wish Happy Birthday'.

A triumph huff broke through the silence around him as the boy shoved his phone back into his pocket before continuing to walk towards the gym.

Now that he was closer, he realized that he couldn't hear the sounds of shoes squeaking and basketballs bouncing on the gym floor.

Furrowing his eyebrows, Natsu briefly wondered if the practice had been canceled today before shaking off that thought, he hadn't received a message stating it was.

Curiously he opened the gym doors only to flinch back upon hearing the sound of confetti poppers and loud shouts of, "Surprise!" And "Happy Birthday!".

With wide eyes, our previously grumpy boy did a full 180-degree emotional turn. With finished cheeks and a small smile on his face, he looked at his teammates who had now surrounded him giving him pats on the back before walking off.

"Yeesh, Natsu, do you know how hard it was to get everyone to keep quiet about this?" Aomine was the first of his friends to speak up, the taller boy ruffling Natsu's head as he stood next to him.

"Yeah, especially that brother of yours, we had to tie him up at lunch because he almost cracked under pressure," Kise spoke up, pointing to the corner of the room where a tied up and gagged Namiki sat, tears streaming down his face as he jolted around trying to worm his way over to the group.

As soon as they made eye contact, Natsu immediately turned the other way, completely ignoring his elder brother who was now laying on the ground weekly dead due to the shock of his precious and adorable baby brother ignoring him.

"I- Thank you guys," Natsu spoke to the group.

Midorima let out a huff as he pushed up his glasses, "It's no problem, Aomine,  Murasakibara, and Kise did most of the muscle work. Akashi, Momoi and I just planned it. The rest of the team helped."

A small giggle graced all eyes on Momoi who was on his tippy toes poking Midoima's lightly flushed cheeks, "Ara~ Ara~ Someone embarrassed." In response to the pink-haired girls teasing the green-haired boy gently smacked her hand away before turning the other way, this action causing the girl to laugh more.

"Natsuru-Kun, " The boy barely flinched when Kuroko popped up out of thin air from behind him, however, he was taken aback by the feeling of thin arms circling his waist, "Happy Birthday, sorry we waited until now to tell you but Aomine-Kun thought it'll be fun to pull a prank and a party at the same time."

After hearing the panel blue-haired boys' explanation, Natsuru felt all the previous feelings of annoyance and betrayal fly out the window. Instead, it was replaced by warm feelings of joy and happiness.

Noticing the hug, Kise grinned before hopping on the two boys while yelling, "Group hug!"

Not even a second later, all 8 friends were bunched up in a hug which was mainly supported by Murasakibara and his long arms. Although usually such suffocating hugs were strongly disliked by the brown-haired boy. Natsuru, who was lost somewhere in the middle of the hug, found himself pulling the group closer, a pink flush on his cheeks and a small smile on his face while he thought about how his 13th birthday, was one he'd always hold dear in his memories.
