Gasping for breath, I rounded the corner and searched for the key in my cluttered trouser pocket.
I quietly muttered:
"Key, it's always the key."
The Doctor yelled behind me,
"Where are we going?"
"Somewhere we'll be safe,"
I bellowed back, my voice hoarse and energy slowly draining.
Honestly, you'd think you would get used to the running.
I held my key out in front of me, aiming for the small key hole in the old wooden doors. Somewhere behind me i heard The Doctor and the red head stop to a sputtering halt.
"Well come on then."
He looked at me bewildered, and pointed a finger at my TARDIS.
"But that's a......."
"A box, yes I know,"
I replied as I shoved the key in the lock.
I pushed both the doors open letting both of them charge in. The Doctor rested a hand on the console, panting as he glanced around.
"Well this is a-"
He did a double take.
"This is a TARDIS."
I raised one eyebrow.
"Quite observant. Yes it is."
He walked around, his hand trailing the upholstery and admiring the plush cushion seating, and personalized console.
He turned around unexpectedly pointing another finger at me.
"You, how did you get this?"
I smiled as I reveled in the memory.
A warm summers day, a light blue, summer dress and the happiness that slowly turned into fear.
"It...was given to me. You could say I ran away with it."
The red head stared at me curiously.
"Then...... How old exactly are you?"
One side of my mouth curved into a small smile.
"Haven't you ever been told? Asking a woman's age is always rude."
She glared at me.
"So are you human then?"
I laughed as quietly as I could. I am one of the oldest races alive. Maybe the last. But I didn't tell her that.
"No, not human. Most definitely not human."
The Doctor looked me up and down.
"Not human, eh? If you're not human, then what are you?"
