RAIN, LIGHTNING, THUNDER, AND FLOOD
Fall, rain, fall from the tepid skies!
Shroud the slumbr'ing lethargy with gray!
Sheet by wrathful sheet the earth you must batter,
Howl like a frenzied beast--let not our fearing matter--
And wash our trembling voices away!
Fall, rain, fall from the tepid skies!
Crackle, lightning, crackle from the thunderclouds!
Hurl upon the earth your blazing spear!
With your flashing and slashing rend the sky into chasms
Rouse it with your fury from the shadows of phantasms
While the curtain 'twixt two worlds you tear!
Crackle, lightning, crackle from the thunderclouds!
Rumble, thunder, rumble from the portals beyond!
Blow upon the grim bugle of devastation!
Let there not be any tinge of silence remain
With your ruthlessness crush their prayers in vain
And scatter Heaven's congregation!
Rumble, thunder, rumble from the portals beyond!
Gush forth, flood, gush forth from the spilling oceans!
Erode our tombstones, our cenotaphs and pride!
Destroy the cities of gold for which we've bled
Drown the profane rostrums of the dire misled
Engulf us in the depths of your woe inside!
Gush forth, flood, gush forth from the spilling oceans!
