NONETHELESS
Care I not that I am left behind
In the race, but in the fact that
I am still running, nonetheless.
What matters it if I lag far behind?
Anyway, not I am defeated because
I ran in this race, nonetheless.
Let them boast of how near
They are to the goal--to victory.
I'm on my way there, nonetheless.
They are eager for the prize that awaits;
I am not. 'Tis the finish line I am after,
So I am running, nonetheless.
That I ran at all is my reward.
I may not the applause and glory gain,
But I still won, nonetheless.
