New Keeper

§ Ciara's Point of View §

I'm back in my room and I felt something heavy on my shoulders. Sinigaw ko ang pangalan ni Lucilla and she came rushing to my room. Agad nyang pinalitan ang bandage sa braso ko. Fresh blood was still gushing out of it. 

Someone tipped Seth na andoon ang heirloom thief sa lair ni Demeter, but it must have been a trick to kill me. Sht! I almost forgot Seth! Anong ginawa sa kanya ni Demeter? Kailangan ko nang makaalis dito. I need to know if he's safe!

"Stop moving!" utos sa akin ni Lucilla, but I can't. I need to be somewhere else. Nang tuluyan na kong makatayo. Agad akong lumabas ng kwarto at dumerecho sa cr. Pero pag dating ko dun, someone's already in there!

"who the hell are you?!" sa pagsigaw ko, agad akong natumba sa kinatatayuan ko. There's a guy inside my toilet and he's half naked! He didn't seemed to be shocked or anything, sa halip... nagtoothbrush lang sya while looking at me. 

TOOTHBRUSH KO YUN!

"Get out! LUCILLA!!" And I felt the pain again from my shoulder. Before I was able to stand up, he picked me up and brought me to the kitchen. Inuupo nya ko sa sabi ng kitchen sink at pinaagos yung tubig sa lababo. Tinangal nya yung bandage ko at kumuha uli ng bago. Nakalagay pa rin sa bibig nya yung toothbrush ko.

"Lucilla!" I called my keeper again, but there was... no response from her this time. Kinabahan ako sa lalaking kasama ko ngayon. I think he's about my age...

"she's noht hewre" wala akong naintindihan sa sinabi nya kaya't tinangal nya yung toothbrush at nagmumog muna.

"she's not here" Nakaramdam ako ng kaba as I scanned my eyes around my unit. She was in my room earlier. 

"sino ka ba, and what the hell are you doing in my condo unit, alam mo bang pwede kitang patayin?" he just gave me a cold look.

"I'm Lucifer, and I'm your new keeper. Now shut up while i try cleaning your wounds. again"

But Lucilla was with me... nakita ko sya pag gising ko. A keeper can only be changed if they're...dead.

"what?!"

I refuse to believe this bullshit!

"Yung nakita mo kanina, that was Lucilla's aparition"

"What do you mean. Derechohin mo na nga ako" He sighed in disbelief as he looked at me. 

"I wish I was assigned to someone else. Are you always this loud?" I crossed my arms in front of him and gave him a cold look. I'm not buying his bullsht. 

"When hades found out that you're in deep shit last night. He sent me after you... and he only gave me 2 options. To save you or to deliver you to the underworld" halos mayanig na ko sa narinig ko. I was at the verge of dying last night-- Lucilla died because of me. And this guy, Lucipher, he saved me. 

"Then what made you save me?" It took him a while bago nya ako nasagot.

"If I deliver you to the underworld that easy... then I won't be able to be with the daughter of Thanatos" Nakita kong ngumiti sya ng bahagya. Binuhat nya uli ako papunta sa kwarto ko at iniupo ako ng dahan dahan sa kama ko. Then he prepared my clothes even my undergarments.

"Do you still need help in... dressing up?" namula bigla yung mukha ko. This guy! 

"No, I won't be needing your help for now. Mag bihis ka na rin." Tumango lang sya sa akin and went immediately out of my room. Nang matapos na kong magbihis. Sinundo na uli ako ni... Lucifer.

"Can I call you. Cipher?" hindi nya ko sinagot. But silence means yes naman diba? Okay. Okay. 

"Or should I call you Lucy?" I said as I tried to break in the ice. Tinignan nya ako ng masama habang pababa kami sa condo unit. Tingin ko may okay yung Cipher kesa sa Lucy?

Pag labas namin sa condo, may bumungad na BMW convertible sa harap namin, may kinuhang susi si Cipher sa bulsa nya at pinagbuksan ako ng pintuan. 

"Wait. May license ka ba?" hindi pa rin sya sumagot. Mababaliw talaga ako pag sya ang kasama  ko. I want Lucilla back.

Tahimik lang syang nag drive. Ang dami dami ko nang sinabi, pero wala naman syang pinakingan. Hangang sa makarating na kami sa Geyfyra Academy, kung saan sinalubong ako ni Seth. 

"Akala ko mamatay ka na, akala ko—teka lang! Bakit kasama mo to?" sabay turo nya kay cipher.

"he's my new keeper" saad ko. Nanlaki yung mata ni seth at nilapitan nya si Cipher.

"he knocked me out last night!"

"That's because I thought you work for Demeter" hinawakan ni Cipher yung kamay ko at hinigit na ko papasok sa school. Tss... talk about attitude Cipher, talk about attitude.

"You can't trust him." Bulong ni Cipher. 

"He's my friend." 

"He's a son of Charon, pwedeng pwede ka nyang dalhin sa underworld kahit kelan nya gusto."

"You talk too much" irritable kong sinabi.

"Don't you know how much your worth is?" itinulak nya ko sa dingding and placed his face closer to mines...

"You're one of the potential heiresses of underworld Ciara... anyone would be delighted enough to get their hands on you, even me" napapkit nalang ako ng mata ko habang mas nilalapit nya ang mukha nya sa akin. 

"Fiasco" Nagiba ang boses ni Cipher at nawala ang pagkakahawak nya sa akin. When I opened my eyes Nathan was standing in front of me and Cipher was nowhere to be seen. Bakas ang pag aalala ni Nathan sa mga mata nya-- I've never seen this expression in his face before. 

For a second, the only thing I wanted to do was to be closer to him. I did the unthinkable and wrapped my arms around him. Unti unti kong naramdaman ang kamay ni Nathan na niyakap akong pabalik. 

"It's okay... I'm right here, I'll protect you"
