Time frames for marriage

A close friend asked:

"How long should I wait before getting married?"

Dear Cold Feet,

Well as most people know, my boyfriend and I have been together since April of 2012. We are now engaged, and plan to marry next October.

You know what I think, time is extremely important. Time tells all. It lets you know when to arrive at work, when to leave work, when you go to bed, when to wake up. But one thing it doesn't let you know is when you are ready for a life long relationship.

You can't judge your relationship by how long it has been since you met. However it's judged by moments.

When that time comes you will know. Let your heart do the talking. And if you are getting older and feel like this is something that should be happening, then don't do it! It will just end in hatred and divorce. And who says you have to define your relationship by marriage? Maybe it's not for you. In the end, don't let society control you, take your own time and make up your own rules.

Hope this helps,
