Set after Return of the Jedi:

Summary – As the after party for Kanan and Hera's wedding rages on into the night, Ezra begins the long path which he hopes will lead to a wedding of his own with Sabine. (BF/GF)

After Sabine caught the bouquet of flowers, she gave a small smile before awkwardly retreating to the corner of the room. Crowds of guests gathered around Kanan and Hera, each congratulating the happy couple in their own way. Ezra gave his master a brief nod before stepping aside to join Sabine on the outskirts. He knew she had never enjoyed being the centre of attention and couldn't help but smile as she stood there with a small blush, unsure where to place the bouquet.
"So, you caught it then?" he remarked with a grin. Sabine nodded with a hum, before rolling her eyes.
"Silly tradition...anyone could've caught it..." she replied, finally resorting to dropping the flowers on an empty chair nearby with a subtle sigh.
"Someone did catch it..." Ezra pointed out, raising his eyebrow with a maddening smile. Sabine gave a chuckle, unable to keep a straight face at her boyfriend's ridiculous expression.
"Even you wouldn't get down on one knee and propose in the middle of someone else's wedding...I hope..." she answered, quietly saying that final part. Surely Ezra wasn't that mad...surely. The Jedi gave another laugh, shaking his head with a grin.
"Nah...don't worry, I won't be an embarrassment today. Out of curiosity though...have you...ever thought about it?" he asked, hoping he wasn't being too obvious. Subtlety had never been Ezra's strong suit, nor tact for that matter. He often said exactly what was on his mind whether he meant to or not, and thus was terrible at keeping secrets.
"Hah...thought you said you weren't being embarrassing today, Bridger? Hm...I suppose I've never really thought about it in depth. I guess...it'll happen one day, right?" she replied, causing Ezra to slowly nod in agreement. Yes...one day, he thought to himself. The two of them stood there for a while, side by side, watching Kanan hoist Hera up high in the middle of a cheering crowd. Does Sabine even want that for us? Ezra considered. She hadn't sounded overly enthusiastic when he'd asked, and he knew she despised everyone fussing over her. He was sure he could plan a wedding that she'd enjoy, after all he knew her better than anyone. He just needed time to think, that was all. As he stood there silently, a dozen thoughts swirling around in his head, a hand gently reached down to his, slowly interlocking fingers. He closed his eyes for a moment and gave a contented quiet hum. Merely holding Sabine's hand was enough to calm his fears. With a deep breath, Ezra decided that he'd take advantage of the guests gathered here for the wedding. When the party was in full swing, he would subtly ask a few questions on how to propose to a Mandalorian.

On a space station resort, there was little concept of time. And yet, as the bright white lights above were dimmed in favour of multi-coloured disco balls, it felt as if night was descending. The neat and organised rows of seats had been pushed clumsily aside, making way for a vast dance floor. Almost all of the guests danced, even those who denied enjoying it, as if hypnotised by the music. That was another thing, somehow Kanan had managed to hire Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes to play at his wedding, aware that Hera enjoyed the band's music. The live band put even Sabine in the mood to dance, and the Mandalorian found herself swaying her hips beside Zeb, whose 'dancing' was just plain embarrassing. This gave Ezra the chance to separate himself from her, stating that he was going to get another drink. The Jedi bypassed the bar, instead walking over to a nearby table where Fenn Rau sat, quietly enjoying a glass of Thuran stout.
"Bridger...good to see you again. Take a seat" the Mandalorian invited, gesturing towards a nearby empty chair. Ezra gave a polite nod, taking the weight off his legs with a sigh. He couldn't help but smile at Rau's idea of formal wear; beneath his smart tuxedo Ezra could make out the shape of beskar alloy plates. Mandalorians, the Jedi thought to himself with an eyeroll, surprised that Sabine hadn't done the same.
"Thanks...need a rest from that chaos..." he commented, leaning his head back.
"Mhm...I can understand that" Rau stated quietly, returning to his drink. This is my chance, just say what you've got to say, Ezra thought, taking a deep breath.
"So...are Mandalorian weddings like this?" he questioned, impressed with his own subtlety.
"Our weddings...often end in blaster fire. We're a passionate people, as I'm sure you've found out personally..." Fenn Rau replied with a raised eyebrow, causing Ezra to cough awkwardly.
"Uh...yeah...I-I mean of course...but is there anything...different about Mandalorian wedding ceremonies?" the Jedi asked, clearing his throat and silently cursing himself for his awkward stutter.
"You seem very interested in Mandalorian weddings...wait a minute, you're not...are you?" Rau questioned, turning to Ezra with a suspicious glance.
"No, I'm not...I mean...am I what? What were you going to ask?" Ezra replied. Real smooth Ez, real smooth, he thought to himself, realising that the game was up.
"Hah...well it's about damn time. You asked her yet?" the Mandalorian asked, grinning too cockily for Ezra's liking. He was always the cocky one.
"No...that's kind of why I'm here...no offence but you Mandalorians are...weird. I didn't know if there was any special tradition I had to follow when I proposed..." Ezra explained in response. Fenn Rau nodded his head in understanding.
"You're right, we do have quite a culture, it must be difficult for an outsider. Don't worry yourself, if there were ever any special marriage traditions, they died out long ago. Besides...Sabine isn't exactly a traditional Mandalorian anyway, I'm sure she'd accept you regardless of how you asked her" he answered, giving Ezra a little bit of much needed confidence.
"I hope so...but still, I want to make it special for her. I mean, if she says yes, she'll look back on that moment for years, probably her entire life. I don't wanna kriff it up..." Ezra stated. Fenn Rau smiled fondly, happy to see Ezra's dedication. He'd seen from day one that the Jedi had feelings for Sabine, but there's a huge difference between liking someone and truly loving them. He could tell Ezra was an example of the latter.
"You know her better than I ever will, Bridger. I'm sure you'll come up with something special. In the meantime, you needn't worry. I return to Mandalore in two days, and I won't tell a soul" he replied. Ezra gave a grateful nod.
"I appreciate it, Rau. I'd better get going...I told Sabine I was going for a drink, don't want to leave her for too long" he said, standing up with a breath. Rau watched the Jedi walk away and join his girlfriend on the dance floor, laughing and dancing alongside her. He took a sip of his drink and smiled.
"The Jedi and the Artist...hm...who would've thought?" he muttered to himself. But as he continued to watch them dance together, he realised neither of them could ever have been with anyone else. They were made for each other, and he had full confidence in Bridger's ability to make the perfect proposal...
